Scott Anderson's piece in the September issue of GQ challenges the official line on a series of bombings that killed hundreds of people in 1999 in Russia. The issue addressed in this story is the journalistic integrity (or lack thereof) of Conde Nast in trying to limit to the United States the distribution of a story critical of the current Russian leadership -- the issue is not the accuracy of the reporting. The story makes a strong case that concern over business interests and a great deal of naïveté are behind the publisher's actions.
