Drug War Facts - Statistics if Drugs Were Legal

"You have to take the money out of it. Interesting piece based on interview with a member of LEAP (law enforcement against prohibition) who speaks in favor of legalization of drugs with government regulation. The allegation is most of the murders in the U.S. are drug related and most prison cost and about 1/3 of law enforcement cost are directly related to illegal drugs. The "back of an envelop" statistics were clearly identified and links to statistics from organizations were given. Providing sources for statistics are particularly important when the stats are shocking. Many of the stats surrounding the Drug War are very shocking.

I've always been skeptical of the need for a War on Drugs. It can be scientifically shown that addiction should be characterized as a brain ... More »
