Despite anonymous sources, seemingly the norm in reporting intragovernmental maneuvering, this appears to be a balanced report on US, Pakistani and international views regarding the US administration push to have Musharaff retained.

Sure, Pakistanis should retain Musharaff dispite the election results because the US asks them to; and we'll keep Bush despite the election results, because Pakistan asks us to. After all, we're all friends here.....
