U.S. antes up to fight drugs in Mexico, as it cuts funding for programs here

The story seems to lightly presume that the war on drugs is a good thing, without mentioning that the "war" aspects have been frequently contorted to attack political enemies under the cover of attacking drugs. It also fails to mention the large portion of the US anti-drug funds that are spent pursuing minor marijuana violations and disproportionately targeting racial minorities. The US-Mexico contrast is interesting, but may be missing the hearts of the story.
