This piece looks at one of the many departures from the past that the candidacy of Barack Obama has accomplished -- his ability to break away from a dependence on the black churches. What the media fail to report about the Obama candidacy is the perception of "blackness" as it applies to political viability and support from the historical "black" religious establishment. This is an eye-opener and an enjoyable read, being well written.
