Theoretically the story is convincing, but there is little to back up the ascertion that what seems likely will in fact take place on arevolutionary basis of a sea change - computing could as well remain largely as it has been previous to Google.

This essay is largely based on Carr's new book, and hence he is by no means a neutral party in this issue. I found this informative, though some big claims about the effects of this computing revolution (e.g. "growing concentration of wealth in a small slice of the population.") are made without evidence.
