Why are bloggers so feared by authoritarian regimes in the Arab world? Because they are young and blogging is, at last, a way to express themselves in a world where they are ignored. An important opinion piece highlighting what new media tools such as blogs are doing in the Arab world. Shows both the power of blogs in 'speaking truth to power', and also the degree to which Arab authorities are weary of these kinds of tools. Light on data showing how many Arabs are actually using and reading blogs and other new media.
