White House Objects to Parts Of Mortgage-Reform Bill

Rep. Brad Miller (D-N.C.), a principal co-sponsor of the legislation, said he was disappointed that the administration "has not had squat to say about this bill" until so late in the process.

"Now the administration announces a long list of criticisms and demands that are a rote recitation of the worst actors in a crooked business," Miller said. "They have had nothing constructive to say about this process for seven years." Full Story »

As this story shows, weekends are slow news days--unless some nation has a battle group headed for Hawaii. Frankly, it's 'deja vue' all over again to read yet another tome about how Cheney and Bush: 1) are stealing America, even ripping up the floor boards; 2) are extremely anti-environment, calling global warming pseudo science; 3) consider the presidency the new royalism; 4) are pandering to special interests; 5) give new meaning to "what a friend we have in Jesus"; 6) are neo fascists; 7) appoint judges that make Goldwater look like a raging liberal; 8) consider reality a liberal plot. The list goes on, but ho hum.

The topic deserves far better treatment than this and so do our citizens. It's disappointing that the editors at the Post allowed what amounts to a trite column filler.

The article does not give clear specifics of the bill. It spends a lot of ink on administration cheap shots, but manages to include Democratic party counter sound-bites.
