I haven't heard much about this issue. The article gives a lot of anecdotal evidence to illustrate the impact of the rules of the banking system.

The only thing individuals can do is not use banks or credit cards from these banks. Find a local bank and credit card with les that 8% credit

Corporations that attack seniors' funds, and corporate banks that benefit by allowing illegal garnishments suggests a degree of sociopathic behavior in two parts of the business community. There is not much depth on the question of why the compassionate conservative appointees are not prosecuting the corporations who are profiteering on seniors.

What I see overlooked in the most disparaging comments about those in debt is that the BANKS and creditors broke the law. The federal government specifically prohibits the garnishment of exempt funds such as Social Security and veterans benefits and it did so for very good reason. Since the banks broke the law, all 'fees' for any checks written on the account that was frozen, unbeknown to the account owner, should have been lifted completely.
