Why I Was Detained by Canadian Authorities

I strongly believe the inclusion on an international criminal database of arrests of those who disagree with the policies of the Bush administration is meant to intimidate, silence and impede travel for those who dissent and criticize the actions of the Bush administration.
Needless to say, I am requesting through the Freedom of Information Act my "file" from the FBI, and formally protesting the inclusion of my arrests for peaceful, non-violent ... Full Story »

As a Canadian, I found this story disturbing and depressing. Thank goodness though for independent media and the internet which lets citizens, on both sides of the border, know what is happening in a very timely way.

There is an interview that gives you an impression of the credentials and character of the person telling the story, and a story of Bush international attempts to quash dissent from the dictates of the dictator. The story also paints a cautionary story of Canada turning more into a right wing police-state mentality that cooperates with Bush.

ok, folks, let's remember the charter of News Trust...is it journalism? or is it not? This is a report of an event but it is a balanced story? No. No attempt is made to understand or credit any other viewpoint than the author's. No attempt is made to understand that a country, any country can legitimately restrict entrance to its borders if the person has a criminal record...and that is what she has folks. Ann Wright has impeccable credentials (29 years in the Army and a US diplomat for 16 years). A person is not a criminal for protesting. It would be more informative to know the exact nature of the crimes (tresspassing, blocking traffic, disturbing the peace???). It is shallow of the Canadian government not to distinguish non-violent misdemeanors. This "crimes" commited should also be in the computer.
