this appears a factual fair account of an event. the only missing piece is the likelihood, and sources for, the mentioned retaliation by Turkey's population. In a larger scope, the story illustrates something we should learn well-- how long and far-reaching political power plays are, effecting political and social decisions for generations to come.

This story does a good job of bringing out the local ramifications of evil deeds many decades ago. It represents the New England Jewish Anti-Defamation League (ADL) position with care, but it does leave me wondering whether there's more to the national ADL position.

From 1915 to 1923, Ottoman Turks massacred as many as 1.5 million Armenians in what is now modern-day Turkey. Armenians, historians, and some European nations have recognized the killings as genocide. But the Turkish government has refused to accept ... More »

Balanced article giving the views of most sides involved, though favouring local sources. The national ADL leadership's claim that pressing for the recognition of the Armenian genocide would endanger Jewish communities in Turkey is not investigated further, and no Turkish sources are interviewed with regard to this.
