But whatever we say or do, the final solution remains with the Congolese.

Around 18 million Congolese went to the polls on 30 July 2006 to choose their president and national assembly. These were the first free and almost fair elections the Democratic Republic of Congo has had in over 40 years. The vote was largely peaceful, with few a sporadic scenes of violence here and there.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.1 average (not enough reviews) - See Review » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

But before he was named a Time magazine "Person of the Year," knighted by Queen Elizabeth or adopted as "America's mayor," Giuliani was better known for his war on squeegee-men and his disdain for a dung-flecked depiction of the Virgin Mary. In short, before Giuliani won over the world, his reputation on the New York City political scene was anything but untarnished.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.3 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

The author tells us it is a political narrative of our (South African) times, and not a conventional biography. South African critics have hailed it as the first serious effort to evaluate president Mbeki's impact on South African politics. As a summary of the ruling party, the ANC (African National Congress's) politics, and the sum of post-apartheid power struggle, the book is indispensable.
NewsTrust Rating: 4.0 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Diener - Jul. 10 (Opinion) - There must me some form of "punishment" for breaking the law and entering this country illegally. The only fair and balanced punishment is one that directly relates to the reasons for coming to this country and should have some monetary penalty as well. The penalty for entering this country illegally should have a direct impact on how long they enjoyed the freedoms and services that this country gave them.
Interview: Kevin Bacon

G21 - By Brad Balfour - Jun. 19 (Interview) - New York, NY, USA - With a track record that includes everything from the lead in the dance musical "Footloose" to a pedophile in "The Woodsman," New York-based actor Kevin Bacon has proven his skills as a consummate performer. So it's no wonder that he's intrigued to take on the challenge of director in doing his latest film, "Loverboy."

That's understandable, but to do it through a film about a mother's obsessive, inappropriate love for her son and to cast your wife and children in it, seems to be really heaping on the challenges.
NewsTrust Rating: 2.8 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Silver Screen Libertarianism from Aaron Russo

G21 - By Rod Amis - Jun. 05 (Entertainment) - Through interviews with U.S. Congressmen, as well the former IRS Commissioner, former IRS and FBI agents, tax attorneys and authors, Russo proves conclusively that there is no law requiring citizens to pay a direct tax on their labor. His film connects the dots between money creation, federal income tax, voter fraud, the national identity card (which becomes law in May 2008) and the implementation of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to track citizens. Neither left nor right-wing in perspective, the film concludes that the U.S. government is taking on the characteristics of a police state.

Most people know Russo as the producer of the Bette Midler film, "The Rose" and Eddie Murphy and Dan Ackroyd's "Trading Places." What is little known is that Russo was a candidate for governor of Nevada and also ran for the Libertarian Party's Presidential nomination during the 2004 election cycle.
NewsTrust Rating: 2.5 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

The name Kibera (as the largest slum settlement in Africa) is intertwined with the identity of Kenya in the minds of many. More so since John le Carre's novel The Constant Garden.

And so the attempts by a group of people in Huruma, a smaller slum settlement on the outskirts of Nairobi, to pull themselves out of squalor and improve their living conditions and their quality of life has been unpublicized, unrecognized and ignored by the international media.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.9 average (not enough reviews) - See Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
