I must ask: Does Al Gore have a greenhouse in his basement? That would explain his overuse of electricity. Fred Grimm of the Miami Herald pointed out the capricious nature of liberals when it comes to environmental protection. Wrote Grimm: "To deliver us our sacred oil, residents of the Niger Valley abide a landscape pitted with pools of toxic chemicals and a night sky perpetually lit by flames flaring from oil derrick smokestacks."

But then Melinda Deslatte of the Associated Press and her editors in New York do something like this: Downplay the election loss of a white Democratic State Representative in Louisiana who had called a civil rights leader "Buckwheat."
