Anchorage Daily News - By Kyle Hopkins - Mar. 26 (News Report) - Opponents see the Citgo fuel program as a political ploy by Venezuela's socialist president, Hugo Chavez, to make the United States look bad. An outspoken critic of the U.S., Chavez has referred to former President George Bush as "the devil" and on Sunday called President Barack Obama an "ignoramus."

"I know they're bickering with each other down yonder," Schaeffer said. "We're so far away and cold, we don't pay attention to it."
NewsTrust Rating: 3.2 average - 3 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Anchorage Daily News - Oct. 08 (Editorial) - She did not make a big issue of health care in her campaign for governor. During her two years in office, she has focused almost exclusively on ethics reform and high-stakes efforts to reform oil taxes and stimulate progress on an Alaska gas pipeline to the Lower 48.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.8 average - 3 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer

Some of Palin's remarks stretch the truth: Politics

Anchorage Daily News - Sep. 04 (News Report) - Gov. Sarah Palin's remarks to the Republican National Convention about her record in state government stretched the truth.THE FACTS: Palin implies that construction has begun on a major natural gas pipeline from the top of Alaska into Canada. That is not correct.

In fact, no building has begun and actual construction is years away, if it ever happens. This summer the Alaska Legislature, at Palin's request, passed a bill under which the state will issue a "license" to a Canadian energy company, TransCanada Corp., and pay it up to $500 million as an incentive to someday build this enormous project, which Alaska politicians have long sought with little success. The license is not a construction contract, and federal energy regulators have not yet approved the project.
NewsTrust Rating: 3.6 average - 7 Reviews » - Review It Visit NewsTrust | About | Sign Up | Disclaimer
