This statement is true. Google’s investment in Recorded Future is fairly straightforward as documented by Google Ventures. The Google investment was first reported in May. The CIA ha a non-profit research and investment arm called In-Q-Tel, created in 1999. Part of In-Q-Tel’s mission is to strategically invest in start-up technologies that might be useful to the intelligence community. In-Q-Tel’s portfolio lists dozens of companies including Recorded Future. The reporting was pretty straightforward, since both Google and In-Q-Tel make their investments public. All it took was a reporter from Wired to put two and two together and make the observation. -- Kelly McBride on behalf of the Truthsquad editors.
