This is a great story with some good history regarding the partnership between the solar industry and the oil industry. The irony here is amazing.

A short summary of a study that examined the $72 billion dollars in tax subsidies given to the oil industry for outdated purposes, and the meager amount given to developing renewables. Worth reading, and gives a nice chart to illustrate the problem.

This aritcle is a good summary of a rare but serious issue of civil contempt imprisonment. When an American citizen serves 14 years due to civil contempt, without ever having been charged with a crime, perhaps we need to revisit the process.

Good points that are finally being made about the racist tinge to many of the anti-Obama, anti-health care protests. It's about time.

This is part two of an incredibly in-depth article about Pakistan. It's scary to think about, but Pakistan could very well fail, leaving us with the first ever failed state with nuclear capabilities.

Excellent article about Pakistan and the fact that it may become a nuclear-armed failed state. This is part one; part two is just as good.

A good report on the Chinese creation of mice from stem cells and what it means, if anything, for the uses of stem cells in humans.

This is just brilliant. As a liberal, I hope no one in the Republican Party reads this. I'd like to see them remain irrelevant for quite awhile. They've done enough damage to my country for years to come.

This is a fun and interesting story about how the Harry Potter books have captivated academics as well as kids. Even universities are teaching literature courses about the Harry Potter books and the symbolism involved in them. This is a fun read.

This is a fascinating article about efforts to require greater transparency in contracts between countries and governments for mineral extraction rights. The effort will go a long way toward reducing corruption in governments and making sure that citizens of a country benefit from the resources taken out. A really good article.

This is an excellent article explaining the history of oil leases and how the rules were changed to benefit a few companies. Really good information on what the potential of new drilling really is, written by scientists who worked for the federal government on oil leases.

This is a very well written article describing something that should be intuitive. The description of the criticisms of the researcher help to balance the article, and there are plenty of facts to help give insights.
