This is a good journalism since it is a newswrothy topic from the stand point of its timeliness for the popularity of Facebook and us being in tax season. Especially since Facebook is going public next week, this would interest many readers. The one thing I noticed was its length. I felt like it kept going on and on and took it to conclusion later than it could have. It does, however, explain the tax system and its process well overall so that anyone can understand what the author is talking about. I was taught that ending with a quote is not good in essays, but I have come to see that it is quite popular within journalism .

I don't really see this as a report/journalism since it's just presenting the "chant." This is a powerful and striking chant, but I see this as more of an open ended discussion starter. As we can see, people have left many comments that have led to discussions. I feel that this is more of a topic rather than a journalism piece.

This is a great article since it is timely appropriate as well as how popular Facebook is. It is not only popular to our generation but it interests many different background of people. It is well written and presented since it gives basic history and background information regarding Facebook and them going public. This should catch many readers' attention since Facebook has become such a huge part of our social media driven part of life and how big the company has gotten.

I think this is very well written. She starts out by giving a broader introduction to the topic then gets more specifict. By starting out with a statement that is already known, reader will feel interested to find more about the fact. Also, the author includes quotes that explain what the researchers found in a plain language. Since it is about science and biology, if it was written in a more difficult way, general public would not have understood. The ending sentence was good as ell since it brings a good finish my stating how it could affect the future.

The issue is well reported in this article since it includes good quotes from trustworthy sources and good transitions. Also, I thought it worked well that the author explained what had happened earlier. The title of the article catches attention since it is straight to the point. The one issue I had was the conclusion, or the lack of having a good conclusion. I did not see a good closing paragraph/sentence. It seemed to just end randomly.

I think this is a very well written piece. Although it is short, it sends enough information about the issue. This is also relevant to those who follow politics and to those who are interested in the wage issue women face. Not only women but many people still see discrimination when it comes to wages. Grothman's comment seems strong enough to catch a large number of people with different backgrounds. The title is attention grabbing with the quote from his quote.

Although it is a story about a NBA player, the article does not make it difficult to understand for those who do not understand NBA. It ... More »

I would say that this article is a good journalism overall. However, at the same time, I would argue that it has too many questions. The questions Plaschke gives are questions that are open ended. I think I heard somewhere that we should aviod open ended questions when writing articles. Although we are suppose to be non-biased, I think with this topic, it is difficult to do so unless the writer gives open ended questions. I think this is a good article especially since it is happening now, and Jeremy Lin is a name that people have heard of even if they do not really follow the NBA. If they see this title on a news page, it will attract people to read it from audiences that follow NBA religiously to just people that have heard of ... More »
