I've been an journalist for more than two decades. I started my career out as an associate editor at the Shepherd Express. I have worked as a stringer for the Milwaukee Sentinel and Journal. I also have produced a 30-minute news show for WYMS radio in Milwaukee. I moved to Washington DC metro area in 1989 where I worked for various publications, including the Baltimore Business Journal, the Patuxent Publishing, The Journal Newspapers, Washington Times Insight magazine and the Examiner newspapers. I helped launched both the Washington and Baltimore Examiner newspapers. I was the managing editor at the Baltimore Examiner until it folded - a very sad day for some great journalists and, of course, our loyal readers. I have also appeared on several Sunday morning talks shows, and various talk radio shows, and my work has been cited in several books, the Congressional Record, as well as television magazine shows, the History channel, Unsolved Mysteries, 20/20 and much, much, more. I currently work as a Quality Assurance specialist for GDIT, where I work with international editors. I also have my own editing, public relations and media consulting firm where I work with various clients. In my spare time, I launched the volunteer "Back to Work" group where I help others find employment. And you can guess from my photo - I run marathons or perhaps I should say I finish them!

This is just a false statement. Good analysis truth squad.

Unemployment numbers only tell half of the story. They don't count for those who have given up looking for work or for those who never filed. The story needs more a human touch. The reporter should interview those who lost jobs. The reporter should provide a breakdown of states. The reporter also takes a few liberties by expressing their opinion such as "sobering conclusion." It also needs another copy edit. Very long paragraphs, which are not ideal for online reporting.

Good column. The reporter should have made more of an attempt to interview the investigator.

The story could be improved, if the writer had looked at several more cases as well as the lawsuits involving similar cases.
