I am an average american citizen, retired, hoping upon hope that the current political course in Washington will change with the forthcoming election. After the "compromise' that I should be "grateful" for, I feel sick to my stomach, numb, and hurt by the deception of the Democratic Party.

Good writing by the WSJ. The lower and middle class will benefit from Senator Obama's plan, he is innovative and there are no "trickle down economics". John McCain has stated himself that economics is not his strong suit and reading is believing. I liked the analogy between the two presidential hopefuls. Enlightning article.
The heathcare system is the US has been looked at through a microscope but no viable solutions come to the forefront. Until the next president is elected, there is a road to nowhere regarding this subject matter. And I hope I don't get sick.
WOW!! Excellent article, informative, honest and compelling. All the deceptions and intrigue in the name of power and control, how demoralizing for our country, service members, and citizens. Money wasted, social programs cut, people suffering, when will the madness end?
This article shows a contradiction in terms, George Bush. Our Prez in disconnected to what is going on in the world, he listens to those funny voices in his head.
Great article, shows how much W. is into playing "control the world", does not surprise me in the least. Lining the pockets of the rich and keeping the little guy down.
Graet piece!! The rule of law prevails. I am starting to feel good about my country again, a spark just lit up my soul, Hallejuah!!
A contradictory tale of large deposits of oil and high prices. Well written and a bird's eye view of the complex issues surrounding the largress of oil, prices, speculators and the entire gambit of slicksters in big oil.
No real conclusion was drawn, just much speculation, but food for thought. High oil prices could be caused by speculators, decreased supplies and increased demands, whatever the cause it will be better judged looking into the rear view mirror.
Another pablum newspiece . It tires my patience, he said, she said stories and that is what this is, a non-issue. It trivialized my intelligence.
Fascinating thinking. Well written. we are all so much alike, but all unique related to gene pool, ethnicity, and region of the world we are from. This was not only an anthropological essay but a philisophical paper also. Easy to read, scientifically correct and factual.
First you say you do and then you don't, baby what do you want to do? Lyrics form a 1940's vintage, but topical now. The decision here is all partisan, the democrats voted "yae" and the repub's voted "nay". Those taxes would most surely help an ailing economy. The taxpayers cannot keep throwing their money at corporate America.
The article was a one-sided look at McCain's fund raising with some of Republican elite's. The quest for town hall meetings is another interesting twist by McCain, hyperbole as usual.
The immigration issue has been beat to death by Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh in their hate express. That is not the answer to the immigration policy. There are no easy one shot solutuions to this hot-bed issue. Legislators and constituents alike are in limbo as there are no yellow brick roads to ease the crisis of immigration. It is a lose-lose situation for the policy makers because there is no one size fits all solution.
The world is ready for change after eight long years of Bush imperialism. NAFTA, free trade policies, Hamas the middle east are all issues that seem to ring a chord of discontent with the affected nations. Barack Obama brings hope and solidarity to the nations of the world. With the promise to end the war in Iraq the senator brings a full plate to the table and perhaps we will all share in the banquet.
My goodness, what a tongue lashing Senator McCain gave to Senator Obama. I thought the letter Senator Obama wrote to John McCain encouraged partinsanship and coming together to eliminate K street politics. I do not entirely understand the reply by John McCain, other than to try and drive a wedge between the two senators. How could anything Senator Obama stated be disingenuous, for John McCain it is the same old, same old.
McCain has short term memory loss, he is enabling big banks and financial institutions and very little to help the homeowner. He espouses rhetoric that is non-sensical and erratic. The deregulation of the banking system was the beginning of the end. John McCain is not presidential material, he is a wannabe CEO.
The article is an opinion piece, shallow in depth but insightful. McCain is certainly not a snake charmer and will definitely have difficulty raising funds for his presidential campaign. On a charisma scale of 1-10 his rating would be a two.
David Wessel elaborated on the possible economic scenario that the next president would be dealing with, namely housing, oil, and the credit crunch and lets not forget the job market. This scenario has been getting worse since last summer and does not seem to have an end in sight. This situation should have been addressed during this administration, but this president has been asleep at the wheel, therefore it will be inherited, not an inheritance that will be welcomed.
Arianna Huffington and the American public are disillusioned with the Republican Party. John McCain will stretch, overreach and lie to achieve his goal of becoming president. This is not a man to be trusted.
Well written and executed. Being a resident of the great state of Michigan I think McCain cannot be trusted and does not understand michigan's economic woes. He is definitely a Bush baby and four more years of the same is unacceptable.
The article danced around but never came to any real conclusions, it was humorous in spots and that is a very good thing. John McCain does have parchment skin and his arm looks as if it is in a cast. He seems disingenuous and really at a loss for the correct thing to say.
This article is based on conjecture, I found it thought provoking but really did not punch my button.
This is a well documented story of manipulation and lies by John McCain. The story points out the flawed character of the Rebulican candidate. As always this publication is right on the money.
This piece is very informative, deals strictly with facts, is timely and a very good read. I particularly enjoyed the analogy beteen the two candidates at the end of the story.
The Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act is a start in the right direction for this country. The article is excellent and a copy should be sent to every legislator and the White House. I believe the author is correct when he stated thatwe need to change the way we think and act concerning enery and how we use it.
I thought the article contained very little substance, but instead focused entirely on TV ads for John McCain. I found it tedious.
This is a look at two very different men through the eyes of an impartial onlooker. Informative and a great narrative.
Great informative article. As a green advocate I believe governments will have to look at microenergy systems much like Germany, a policy of energy conservation with tax credits used as the incentive. It is our future let's use it wisely.
The article is well executed and again shows the arrogance of John McCain. He is trying to establish himself as an enviromentalist while engaging support for nuclear energy. Just how gullible does he think the American public can be? His voting record on enviromental issues illustrates that he is not the "eco-warrior' that he pretends to be.
The article points to the fragmented views of John McCain "straight talker", each time he opens his mouth his viewpoint changes. This has happened consistently and frequently.
