This was a very informative article. For my various projects in class this will be very useful. The way that the article was written, by breaking up the things that we have gained from the Civil War, was very easy to comprehend.

This article wasn't really written by a journalist but it was very well written for the time that they say it was written.
This was a very interesting story to read. It was very cool to see the differences between blacks and whites at the time. I thought this was an overall good story and opened by eyes to things that I would have never known before. I didnt know the former slaves would still talk with their masters after slavery was abolished.

Very good from a history standpoint. The story was very long. The "so what" didn't come until the very end. Where is the painting now? Will it have anything done to it for the 150 anniversary?
I actually learned a lot from this article but I would like to know more. What about the painting now? Since it was written this year, the year of the 150th anniversary, I would have liked to know if anything was being done with it now.

A lot of facts in this story. The writer used a lot of history about the civil war along with his opinion on the subject.
This article was very insightful about the Civil War and how it affected our area, which is something that I haven't read about before. I thought it was very nicely put together.

The quotes in the story are good but I would have liked to see more from Dr. Alonso himself and from some of the students that were in school while this change took place.
This is a great story about how the city is changing for the better. I really enjoy reading articles about the community and how it is making itself a better place.

Yes. A very good article with very good journalistic attributes. All of the information and stats in the article really helps the reader see the problem with the vacant houses in Baltimore.
Very informative article. Gives a lot of info about vacant houses in the Baltimore area and the problems they are causing their neighbors.
