The part of this story I still don't get, is where was Obama's starting point? Certainly because a super majority of 60 is needed in the Senate to do anything, what leverage does Obama have that would have made extending the unemployment, reducing taxes for those making less thn $250,000 etc. Where is the leverage that Democrats and the White House? This is a major pat of the stroy that isn't addressed.

This is an interesting story about the McCain Health Plan that puts it context of real world of costs and benefits. The fact that an independent group without a particular point of view indicates the McCain plan will cost $1.3 Trillion dollars over ten years certainly puts doubt about his plan and that the plan does not prevent private insurers from eliminating pre-existing conditions certainly makes those who are ageing or already have pre-exising conditions much interested in looking at the Obama Health plan. This is further evidenced by the fact noted by the article that the McCain plan does not state the costs to his plan by "assisting" states to deal with those with pre-existing conditions that may not find insurer to ... This is an excellent review of the birth of the liberal/progressive point of view in the 21st Century of media broadcasting. Having been a political junkie my entire life (I am 65 years old), I never seen the two back to back shows that held my interest as a liberal that seeks facts not hyberpole. What will be very interesting is when Senator Obama is elected president (I am engaging in the power of positive thinking), what will these two liberal pundits offer to us of will want to President Obama's feet to the fire for "real change". It will be very interesting.

I disagree with Roland Hirsch's review who is the only one to give the story such low review scores. The point isn't that there are agents of any party in the State of Alaska trying to learn all they can about a virtual unknown to the Country as Governor Palin. The point is that are there individuals trying to deter and misdirect those seeking to collect information about the issue and whether they are doing so legally.

"This has barely any context, but the information point is interesting. The incongruous comments from McCain leave me wishing this was explored further." I quoted this from another reviewer because it so clearly states my view.

I think this article lacks real depth. It talks about the problems, provides a thin explanation, but does not point to historical decisions, like de-regulation, lack of oversight by the SEC and other agencies as well as some cases no regulation at all that may have lead to the problems in the first place. More it fails to call a spade a spade....the socialization of Wall Street....only when it is in trouble. Wall Street shares it woes but rarely its rewards with the average taxpayer which is very true with the Bush Tax cuts for the wealthiest. Well written, but more insight to the problem needed.

Unlike the earlier reviewer, I think various aspects of fund raising was included. The writer admitted the point if one million Obama supporters gave the max was unrealistic. But the overall sense of the story and the facts as we have heard from other sources indicate that McCain is having a rough time raising money and will be behind the 8 ball which is a reversal of fortunes of the Parties. I thought this was a well done and interesting article.

I agree with other reviewers that the story relies too much on one "expert" opinion, a professor from Yale, who is not well known, to me at least, so it's hard to evaluate his biases or expertise. I like the chance to click to other stories for further info, but the stories added were too one sided toward McCaine for a balanced perspective.
