Excellent piece. Truly widens my perspective of the attitudes of Alaskans. It doesn't tar and feather Palin but neither does it sugar coat her. Very well documented. My only complaint would be length but, to be honest, I'm not sure what I would have cut.
The sourcing is excellent, utilizing incidents from across time and party spectrums. Lightman and Stearns didn't just look for Democrats and unhappy employees for this piece. Incidents include Republicans, Democrats, current friends, long standing friends. It gives not only the response of the individuals involved but also McCain's people. It allows you to see the pattern in the behavior of not just emotional outbursts but physical altercations and long running grudges. I was quite surprised to read about the attitudes towards POW-MIA supporters. Very helpful. Very telling.
This is merely an opinion piece and as long as it's seen as such, it's OK. Unfortunately for the McCain campaign, their opinions don't match independent information.
I wish that the reporter had specified which bills she was refering to but that's not the fault of Veracifier. You could actually see McCain trying to explain himself: I am of supporter of New Orleans-I don't know much about it-I voted against a bill with a lot of pork. You could almost hear him tell himself, "Oops, the handlers said to stop saying I didn't know things!"
Well balanced look at this particular speech though I would have like to heard the pundits more and seen the painful clip of McCain less. We see McCain looking pained fairly often, we don't see this reaction from Fox News very often.
This article fails to ask how it is that MCCain or his people failed to investigate Hagee's beliefs before asking for his endorsement.

It would be nice to know when and where McCain made this statement. It also would have been good to see the Obama piece to which he was responding.
