The writer tied recent events that I am aware of to this piece indicating that he has validated his material by adding context. Placing this struggle in historical context, the writer explains how difficult it is to clear, build, and most significantly, HOLD the territory involved.

America's presence in Afghanistan and occasional drone bombardments in Pakistan portend a protracted presence ridding the remote regions of the ... More »

Stories that highlight child prodigies and new science always get to me. Besides showing that this child prodigy is advancing the study of photovoltaics, the article exposes the further reach of alternative energy that is occurring in Universities. I see that with proper funding from the government, young scientists with fresh thinking will create new paradigms for our energy future.

Both in content and style I find this article exellent in that it not only presents Simmons theory of peak oil, but traces its history back to Hubbert, the originator of the theory. It relies on numerous sources for data and exposes OPECs manipulation of reserve estimates to suit their production decisions. Brian O'Keefe does an exellent job of putting this piece in an informative and interesting format.

The Special Report highlights soft demand for gasoline and the refiners adjustment to that by refining less gasoline. It inadvertantly informs the consumer of the power Oil companies have over us in that as oil prices fall on world markets by reducing refined output artificial fuel shortages can keep prices at the pump higher than they otherwise would be.

This is a press release, so far the only updated information I could provide to cover an architectural marvel that has been built in San Francisco that utilizes green technology in a unique way. It is informative in that it highlights some of the developmental challenges and accomplishments of this project.

This article, because it represents an advocate's shift from green to pro nuclear in a similar way Greenpeace's former co-founder Patrick Moore did, sparked my interest. However on close reading it offered little in regard to any underlying proof of fast breeder reactors safety, only his conversion to it. The reference to Tom Blees book, Prescription For The Planet was not synopsized or further explained.

The lack of specifics about the meetings attendees and discussions leaves readers in the dark as to what transpired. That Rice is able to escape with the lapse of memory excuse regarding details of the meeting leads to a cloudy picture of what transpired. Cheney's participation is alluded to but without access to the documents received by the Senate Armed Services Committee, the reader is in the dark on the true nature of the meetings.

This article exposes the tip of the iceberg where esoteric tax shelters are robbing the U.S. economy of billions of dollars in uncollected tax revenue, with the acquiescence of regulators. That UBS is deeply involved in many of the schemes is not surprising in light of Phil Gramm's involvement with that firm. To fully appreciate the scope of the corruption involved in these investment firms it will require many more expose's of these trades.

If true this is a sad commentary on the father of the two sisters. That he would teach the half sister to be so selfish as to abandon her to the 10k the father left her speaks volumes. I will reserve judgment until further info is forthcoming. It sounds so typical of the selfishness of the haves and their less fortunate relatives.

I was a member of NRA as a sportsman. The organization is a powerful lobby. This article shows the paranoia the leadership of the NRA has for anyone that opposes its agenda. I read the initial account on the infiltration by Sapone when the story broke. It is up to McCain to address the lobbyist ties to him. They keep turning up as volunteers for him. Money men volunteering, hmmmmmmm.

Not having focused on this military chess match prior to the Russian incursion, I have to look at this article as a primmer requiring further research to accurately guage the factual and speculative merits of it. On first read it seems plausible as a pre-invasion scenario; but NYT Iraq falsehoods has taught me caution from blind acceptance of plausible, limited sourced articles.

This article brings to the layman in as simple a form of educational information as is possible on a subject of critical concern in a culture bent on lowering the cost of medical and hospital care. In effect it postulates that our surgery rooms are incubators for deadly strains of bacteria that are multi-drugresistant and whose viability is enhanced by the antibiotic use in the food supply. As a U S health Dept., and later U.S. Air Force Medical Technologist, my sister studied ... More »

No mention of the state reaction to the recent earthquake wherein the Government's media suppression was successfully challenged by journalists and state control of parents grievances at the shoddy school construction was evident in its aftermath. The Olympic opening attendance by Sarkozy and his fellow elitist Bush was to be expected regardless of the state of China's human rights record. That the west is participating in the games at all is proof of the West's acquiescence to China ... More »

To pretend to read into Mr. Beshir's mind based on the reactions of other war criminals is too much speculation to be taken seriously. I would have preferred to have more information on the actual conditions in Darfur regarding the Janjaweed, the displaced Darfuris civilians and casualties they have suffered. The decision to indict Beshir for war crimes is according to Ocampo imminent and its repercussions will be apparent unless UN Security Council members defer the action in a trade for peace.

As a follow up to his excellent "Foreclosure Phil" article, Corn can rightfully opine in the manner he does here. The evidence of the cavalier attitude Gramm has about his insensitivity to the American Middle Class meltdown is in Gramm's own words explaining his reason for leaving the campaign. No mea culpas, no my unfortunate choice of words, just the typical Republican policy of blame those Democrats for my unfortunate albeit symbolic exit from the stage.

The decision to have Tom Brokaw host the show is appropriate. The loss of Tim Russert is a blow to the world of political knowledge and this story is informative to that effect, adding nothing beyond the facts. My Sundays began with Tim's weekly grilling, I can only hope that Tom is up to the task.
