Insurance company and republican talking points regurgitated, except the edges have been knocked down a tad. Take the middleman (insurance companies) out of the equation and health care costs go down, the math is simple.

As long as the big money keeps going to the media from insurance companies, we will contiue to get garbage like this.

A perfect example of bad reporting: no real facts are used, only faux "facts" being shopped around by the far right (that have been disproved countless times), and no experts are cited. In addition, only conjecture is used to support the future outcome.

The weekly Standard and Fred Barnes belong in the same column as Fox News. Until these publications and networks are eliminated, the public will ... More »

A prime example of bad journalism, the author conveniently leaves out the "who" part of the story in order to make his point. The author also conjectures on why the money was refused instead of supplying the official Whitehouse reason. In addition, the author contrives a scenario that doesn't even exist. This isn't news, it's fiction.

It's bad enough that Fox can claim to be a fair and balanced news organization, but for a publication like the WSJ to run the article is beyond the pale.

All the pieces of good journalism are here (who, what, when, where, why). It's easy to read, comprehend, and incorporate into an individuals understanding of the economy. Journalism schools and their students (and by extension, the public at large) would be well served by studying and dissecting this report.

This story should be front and center of every paper, cable news channel, and news magazine in the country. All though long, it covers exactly what ... More »

This story is very lacking in facts. I'm surprised the author actually put in the piece about that CTL fuel produces twice the Co2 as standard gasoline. The author fails to mention what specific energy is in the CTL (hint, it's less than gasoline) or that at 350 megawatts to produce 80,000 gallons of fuel is a net loss in energy. Overall, the story is poorly researched and reported.

I seriously doubt this story was written by Alexis Madrigal. It appears to be another coal industry sponsered article thats long on glory an short ... More »

A reasonable story but with a few flaws, as would be expected from a right leaning corporate friendly publication. The writer states that the current (8.1%) unemployment rate is nowhere near the depression's 25% rate. Unfortunately, the writer does not or did not look into the way the rate was and is now calculated. If you calculate the rate the way it was done during the depression, then the current rate is about 20% not 8.1%. In addition, there is very little effort in the ... More »

Jon cites numerous sources, shows indisputable video facts, and backs it up with an on camera interview with an expert who has been wading through this stuff for decades. The facts and there results are presented in a manner that anyone can understand.

Its a shame that its left to Comedy Central to present the truth to the American public. It just demonstrates how in control the uber rich are when ... More »

As usual, Mr. Palast delivers a hard hitting expose' that is full of facts. He delivers the information in an easy to understand and digestable article.

When Karl Rove went on TV and predicted that the election was in the bag, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!

The author made no effort to gather or cite any facts. This article is pure fiction based on the authors personal desires for the election. I again plead that only articles written by qualified individuals using unrefutable facts and cites be reviewed by this board. There is no sense wasting our time on this kind of tripe.

Bravo Dan for showing how to write an article without a shred of fact or evidence.

I am troubled that some of the quotes from Powell's book are taken out of context but overall the report is illuminating. At the same time, I feel that Powell is trying to make up for being a "good soldier" for the Bush administration for the last 8 years. I do recall that he was the lone dessenting voice in the run up to war within the administration and had to be strong armed into playing along. I do agree with him whole heartedly about Brokaw, that man has been a sheep the ... More »

Unfortunately, the author allows his father's lack of ability to correctly use the tax code to color his opinon. He uses a style that is condescending and picks only anecdotes that support his point of view instead of using facts that would force him to confront a different conclusion.

A well written review that gets right to the point and explains the situation in easy to understand terms. As we have seen in the past few weeks, unfettered, unregulated, free markets lead to free falling economies. I never could understand why there should be a derivatives market, bets on bets with no underlying value just seemed ludicrous to me. I would suggest that Brooksley was chastised not because Greenspan, Rubin, and Summers thought she was wrong, but that they knew that ... More »

The author shows a clear use of picking only the facts (some are not facts, but assertions) that support his argument. Trickle down economics and reduced regulation do not work, as proved by the last 8 years. Suggesting that only those at the top should benefit from the bailout, as they create the jobs, is laughable at best. In addition, asking to increase immgration because they need the additional workers is an outright lie. The only reason to increase immigration is to ... More »

I had heard that the brigade had been stationed in the states but did notunderstand why, considering the need for troops in Afganistan. Miss Wolf managed to link it together quite nicely. I would have preferred more input from other officers and additional confirmation of the threats that Congress recieved. However, I like the way the author layed it out interms that will be easy to grasp by any reasonably inteligent person.

Claiming that online small denomination contributions are secret foreign investment in Obama is just an outright lie and manipulation of the truth. If we are going to review articles, articles should be selected on merit and not how far right or left they lean in order preach to the choir for each side. An article this far skewed should never have seen the light of day, much less reviewed for its content. In this vein I propose that we start eliminating some publishers from ... More »

I cannot get enough of reports like this that come directly from those on the ground and in theater. This report is a classic example of what you get when the guy who knows the most relays the information directly to you without massaging from editors and owners. Unvarnished facts with a little opinion based on experiance. I must admit that when the original broadcast Real News Network went off the air, I was extremely dissapointed.
