It's an interesting new perspective - one that unfortunately might become more common - of seeing the newspaper shutdown story from the point of view of the laid-off staff trying to start something new from the ashes.
Interesting, somewhat informative, seemed a little too interested in the controversy, in tweaking the old vs. the new, the Ivy vs. the upstart, and less interested in the way the old and new need to work together. Quality comments, obviously read by many of the key players, actually added to understanding.

I believe that this reporter was concealing a bias. There was a lot of emphasis on the "cost of the whole fence" which says to me that the reporter supports the concept of a fence, or of preventing illegal immigration using such law enforcement means, uncritically accepting the premise behind the policy but questioning this implementation. This fence seems to me as more of a proof of concept before you would even try to go further, but it's a pretty expensive proof of concept, mostly ... More »
This is more of a commentary than a news story, but it points out important waste, not just in lives, but in resources and opportunity costs (the cost of not reporting on really important strories that might require more initiative or hard reporting.)
