When a journalist decides to use incorrect and unsubstantiated claims such as "the only thing they want is to share your retirement money with their wealthy friends" you get a pretty good idea of the nature and intent of the article. This is an attempt to scare rather than inform... This is a perfect example of what not to do in journalism... Bad article, bad publication, bad journalism.
No this is not very good journalism. It was written with an obvious agenda and makes no attempt to discuss how significant wage increases would affect the consumer or businesses involved. Additionally, it misrepresents facts by presenting the national profitability of various fast food chains while ignoring the the likelihood that these chains are franchised and face significant costs pressures themselves as a result of being located in these areas. I'm guessing a raise of 6/hr would drive these chains out of business and result in no jobs.... Are we seeing another hostess in the making? This article doesn't explore this possibility.
As always, Paul Krugrman presents an extremely biased version of current events.. This is reliable entertainment but not news that can or should be trusted.. He frames the election as one about the rich versus the middle class and poor but fails to mention that Romney won the middle class vote...
The picture at the top of the post says all you need to know.. The author of this opinion piece is a complete political hack. Nothing more needs to be said. Complete trash.
