I've been on Newstrust.net six months now. In that time I have given hundreds of reviews and read thousands of articles. I usually try and start my day by writing a few reviews because most of what newspapers I read are already on the site. While I have a disagreement with the founders of Newstrust, like when they hide one of my reviews from public and won't tell you why, I'm basically proud of the work I and the other reviewer's do. Because, without the people who review this site, there would be no site. So, I'll hang around for awhile, if permitted, and keep on keeping on.

A great article that is more relevant now than ever. Why we keep building cold war weapons in an age of fighting insurgents is ridiculous. But with Obama on shaky ground With the military on his plans for Iraq, I don't see anything being done in the immediate future.

If you want to build hi-tech weapons, try building robots that operate like drones and quit fucking killing the youth of this country.

If you want to know where the newspaper companies are going, don't read this article. If you want a good read which is interesting and gives you some idea of where they came from and possible places it might go ,enjoy.

The era of the Big Time newspaper seems to be coming to and end. There will always be paper, but it appears that it will mostly deal with local issues.

While reading this well written an well sourced article, I started thinking what's the big deal. Maybe in New York, or Chicago it's a big dead, but this country isn't just big cities. People in small towns like I live in do not care. They have news coming out of their ears. Local news, national news on T.V., the internet has more news in ten minutes than a person could read in a lifetime. Want to know something. Google. I've gone out of my way to find someone who gives a damn if the New York Times closes, not one person said they cared. The local paper is sold out on Monday and Thursday. Why, because it is LOCAL.

Having said that, I've read a fresh newspaper everyday since I was eight.I was living in N.Y. and I went straight to the sports section to see if my hero, Mickey Mantle had homered or not. I hope the big time newspapers don't close, but I get all my news (except local) off the net or the news program.

This "gotcha" journalism is right out of the Mike Wallace playbook, with a right wing slant. Beck can't even read the cue correctly. This is in no way journalism. He's a paid, and paid very well, to spout the conservative agenda.

The Arthur, while citing statistics, seems to be relying on hope, more than facts. I find this disquieting.

While it's true a lot of bloggers have sold out and went main steam, what is going to happen when newspaper owners such as Murdock start charging for content. After a brief respite, I predict the bloggers will be a force to be reckoned with.

This Time author knows the area he covers. He writes a very good review of the election, for America. I wouldn't say bias. Maybe, hopeful optimism.

If a pebble drops in the sands of the middle east, will it make a sand storm around the world. Maybe, maybe not?

Mr. Hiatt, You're the first. The first one to stump me completely, solidly, and I hope, not permanatantely. While every point you make has merit, I can argue everyone, all day with you. I hate to do this, but, hear's a cigar.

The man is right. You either make this work, or capitalism, as it is , is fool's gold. If a two-part system can not, and I stress can not, find a way to make American work, and be a "force" in the global world world, Then there is a better way. If it does not work, then why beat a dead horse. It costs more to bury a dead horse than it costs to keep it. A 5.0. From me. To a journalist. No way, Jose. If a profession has to die, and I think they are burying it way to soon, you can't go out on a higher note.

A journalist is an integral part of society. They find the people who steal our money. That's basically what they do. I know, they cover wars, etc, but there's money there too.

Hate to see it. Makes me mad. Wish it didn't have to happen. But, theres always a but, I don't hear alot of other people knocking down GM's door.

On a scale of 1-10, well, lets make a bigger scale. Obama has a scale of his own and this article proves it. Some speech and some article.

Let's see. If you hit a home run, it's four bases. What if you run to five bases. What is that called? That's called me with a lump in my throat, being proud to be an American again, and listening to a President, stand in front of the World, and not "LIE".

The author tells of another claim by a White woman, claiming she and her daughter were kidnapped, and the reaction that it has brought..

With the conservatives out of office, you will be hearing more and more of these claims. With our first black president, there is resentment not just from whites, but conservative blacks as well.

Unlike Helen's "declareration in the Time's, Obama is praised and muted in the opinion of these experts. A report that was interesting, informing, and thoughtful. Thank Amy and Juan for an excellent article, as usual.

Why, instead of trying to be Nostradomus,? can't a reporter just report? Why does a reporter, whose job is to report, have to put their 2 cents, plus my 10 cents, in every thing they write? You want to write about the Middle East problems, say so, if not, write what your assignment calls for.

Helen, No one, No one, thinks this speech solved the problems of the Middle East. It was a "SPEECH", be it a damn good one, Even to compare Bush's lies, with Obama's speech, is not worth reading. You make the whole day seem like it was the cure for polio.

A very well written and fair article of the need for Obama to to give the "Great" speech. It won't happen. Lincoln him self could not deliver a speech to please all the people Bush has alienated.

While Obama can deliver a great speech, "fogetabouit" He is popular at home. 60 % popularity. that still 40 % disapproval. Now, what are his chances in the Middle East. if he justs survives the trip and makes it back home, I'll consider that a success.

An excellent report on the growing crackdown on , not disidents, but organizations that are charitable in nature. While I admire Mr Mostafaei's spunk, I would not expect his life to be a long one.

Someone must be very powerful to crack down on Ayatollah Khomeini's grand daughter. Every six months are so, some magazine or newspaper will speak of the youth of Iran being fed up will all the restrictions and it won't be long before the mullah's are overthrown. This won't happen. They will do the same as China in Tinenmin Square so forcefully did.
