While this story isn't long or too much in-depth, I liked it because of its unusualness. If given the opportunity, the reporter should attempt to gain some more information about the families and thier future/history. Crazy story!

Member (since February 2011)WELCOME :) My name is Kathleen Jordan and I'm a sophomore at Towson University. I'm from a small town in Montgomery County about an hour south of Baltimore. I decided to attend Towson because of the mass communications program and more speficially, the journalism/new media track offered. For the past few years, I have dreamed of becoming a news anchor/reporter and since beginning high school I have seen myself in the journalism field.
I liked this story because it clearly is timely and the issue of legalizing gay marriage is becoming more and more relevant. This is good journalism because it gives imformation with depth and includes many resources- on both sides of the issue. That is key (getting each side) when reporting on controversies, especially in politics.
I posted this story because not only did I find the news interesting and entertainmenting for me, I loved the aspect and angle the writer took. Although the author did not use typical "baseball" lingo (in the beginning at least), I loved how he walked fans in Baltimore through the scene he was able to witness of the Orioles doing well during spring training all the way in Florida. Baltimore fans are very excited for the upcoming baseball season, but hestitant as always because of how past seasons ended. This article was written to encourage fans, give factual data and quotes and to give people here the detailed image of the great game the Orioles played today in the brand new stadiium.
This is a good article and good journalism. I thought the author did a great job getting sources from all sides of this issue- from interviews with the people directly involved and making decisions to factual data. The publication was local and the author did well incorporating local areas in Maryland and even the close areas in Virginia that have been affected by this issue. This topic may not seem relevant to the audience but reading through, one should realize how this is impacting them and those they know who hold jobs at these companies. This article is one of few that is real information but does shed positive light on companies' and thier attempts to help thier employees.
I recommend this story because of its content and how relatve the informaton is- with all the tradegies going on around the world and the Oscars quickly approaching. I enjoyed reading about Clooney's thoughts for other places in the dark and the actions he has been taking and plans to take more in the future. This story could have been improved if more time was spent contacting other celebrities or interviewing people Clooney works with. He is not the only one helping people in need and using his celebrity power. He obviously has made an incredible impact and this article does a lot for his cause through bringing publicity to him, but there are others in Hollywood and not in Hollywood looking to be heard and seen as well.
Although the article was well-written and included various sources, it deeply covered one side of the story- the island. The author did not go into enough detail or seek out enough information from the President or the White House. This story is for an audience interested in thier leader's vacation and how it might affect other places, but the focus should remain on thier leader. If the author wanted to simply cover the island's issues, then they should have gone full force into that topic. The article also appeared to be mainly quote to quote from the island's local publications.
