This article only gives the main point of what is going on which is that fishing is becoming harder and harder because of global fisheries. In general, this article lacks many sources only quoting one person as an expert. It is informative but it doesn't do what a great article should do with is provoke thought. There is useful information in the article but it lacks interesting content.

This is an interesting article because it isn't written by a reporter or a writer but by an actress. She brings in the faultline of generation in what is being used now targeting apple products. It is written more like a diary but is informative and provokes thought and new ideas as a reader. Although the tone is a little light, the article as a whole shows knowledge of the irony of the 'cost of convenience'. I thought this article was extremely unique and interesting.
Since the recent debate on whether to legalize marijuana, this article is very timely because of what presidents have tried to do to lower drug usage. Many interesting ideas are brought up in this article including what Obama has said he will do and what he won't do. It includes many reliable sources who add to the article as a necessary contribution to make the article newsworthy. It provokes thought and includes a lot of insight and background on the situation itself.
I like this article because it uses a different way to report news. It is basically a photo log that includes captions and source quotes that describe conditions in different areas of the world. It falls into the faultline of geography because of where all of this is located. I think it is a good article because it provokes thought through pictures which some would argue says more than just a written article.
This article is full of information but on the other hand I think it is not well sourced. It does give both sides of the story, Palin's opinion as well as Michelle's opinion but it doesn't do enough to provoke thought from the reader. It basically plans out that Sarah Palin wrote a book and she insulted Michelle Obama. It doesn't take the idea a step further either in questioning Sarah Palin's validity in all she has said or how she has come to this conclusion.
I like the lede in this story because it starts off with a scene of the living situation in Haiti. It is part of a current event because people are actually living in Haiti and dealing with the living situations. I think this article is informative and well researched because of all the facts and sources that are used. They interviewed families living in Haiti that tell the story well and make the reader feel what is going on. This article overall is insightful and interesting to a reader who is interested.

Study: Airport Security Should Stop Racial Profiling | Smart Journalism. Real Solutions. Miller-McCune.
Race is usually a topic that is part of faultlines in journalism. This recent explosion of TSA screening tactics have been the talk of many people because of traveling during the holidays. The question of whether racial profiling is ethical or unethical i this case is asked by many people including the TSA. This article is informative and in-depth. They use extremely good sources to back up their reporting. The article works as a current event news story.
This article is one of the articles that I have really been interested in. It is newsworthy to me because I have never heard about this before. It has to do with the faultline of generation because of the popular marketing of facebook use to younger people. This is good journalism to me because it makes me think deeper into what censorship is and how far it can be taken.
Reports of the TSA holiday screening has made news quite often recently. Since Thanksgiving just passed and Christmas is coming up soon, I think this story is relevant because it has to do with everyone traveling by plane this holiday season. This article is extremely interesting because it gives good background and videos that provide insight for me. It also quotes many reliable people who are a necessity to the validity of this article.
This is good journalism because it applies to the faultline of geography. Since it is in Europe, people in other countries are not able to experience the enormity of what is happening. Although this is the case, it is well informative and quotes many sources who contribute to the article quite a bit. It is newsworthy because it is good to know about different regions of the world.
I would say this article has good aspects and bad aspects. It tells the reader of current news and statistics that go along with it. It is factual and that is given credit for. Although this is the case, it is lacking in sources and in expert knowledge. It is very short and gives an idea of what is going on but doesn't go in depth. Overall it's an interesting article that is relevant to today but is lacking in detail and validity.
This article has do with generation because limewire as I know it is usually used by younger people. In high school, it was a popular downloading agent in comparison to itunes. I think this story is extremely factual and gives context but is as long as it should be. There isn't really anything more that you can say but that Limewire has decided to shut down operations and the reasons why they decided to.
I think this article is extremely good because it hits all the requirements of a good article. It provides background, provokes thought, contains statistics, and also includes sources. It presents both sides of the situation which in this case is for or against gay participation in the military. It doesn't favor one side or another but presents the information fairly and gives the reader detail into both sides. It also has to do with the fault line of generation. In more general aspects, it states that more people are for gay participation. This shows how the generational gap is beginning to change the way people support certain issues. As society progresses and becomes more open, different issues are seen differently.
This article is well written based on the fact that they provide background information on how carriers are changing their data plans and also use in depth quotes that provide the reader with more insight into the situation. Talking about the big cellular phones companies such as ATT, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint, these companies are considering taking away their unlimited data plan and giving the customer a choice of how many MB of data usage each month. There will also be fees for how fast you want your internet on your phone to be as well. Although this seems like a good idea to make data usage faster on phones, it seems that eliminating the unlimited data usage plan is futile because so many people depend on the unlimited ... More »
Since the Four Loko drink has surfaced in news and the media, there have been many complaints due to the growing amount of young adults who have either been severely hurt or have died from drinking this product. This article explains what the company is doing to make their now popular drink safer for young adults (which is their target age group). Although this step will help make the drink safer, I still feel that before releasing this product, the manufacturers and founders should have been more alert to the fact that they are targeting young adults, specifically college students. This plays into the fault line of generation because there have not been cases of 30-40 year old men and women being hospitalized or have died from ... More »

The broadcasting of this issue of a local church being 'thankful' for the San Bruno gas line explosion is relevant and up to date because it was posted within this week. It is relevant because the San Bruno explosion changed many people's lives. The sources are pretty reliable because they are either community/church members being interviewed about their thoughts on why they think the gas line explosion was a sign to not tolerate homosexuals in a bay area high school. The article does reflect 7 live's mission statement because this news is modern and an issue that has been debated. It is of interest to the society.
The subject of this story was made clear by targeting the fact that she was harassed by two men. It begins by giving background on the situation and how it later on became violent. I don't feel enough perspectives were brought in, it would have been more effective if an interview with Lauren Valle and the two men were conducted and added. It does helpfully state what the people were doing there which was the Rand Paul-Jack Conway debate held in Lexington, Kentucky.
Although it is not apparent, Rachel Maddow, whose opinions are what make this article, is the central character in this story. She is brought to life through the use of quotes from her and the opinions that she holds. I don't feel the story brings enough perspective or evidence because it would have been helpful if they got more quotes and background information about the subject. I would have had a clearer idea of what the issue is about.
The reporter for this article seems well informed. There might have been a few things that he/she had trouble getting because the typhoon is so recent but other than that I think it is overall extremely accurate and full of information. There aren't any gaps apparent to me because the writer included quotes as well as factual statistics on the typhoon which made me trust the content.
This article poses a very unique idea of how far organizations will go to eliminate drug use. Although this is a very different idea from what I have read before, I think the subject is very difficult to gather information that is accurate on. Not all drug addicts are willing to get sterilized for money. There are a lot of quoted sources which makes it accurate but confusing at the same time. I am confused how the fact that these people involved in this exchange has anything to do with drug addiction. There are many gaps apparent because I am confused by most of this article. It is an interesting concept.
Although this story does prove many points about the law that Arizona passed recently, it stereotypes the state of Arizona and questions the judgement and decision making that went into passing this law. It is now questioning why Utah is following in Arizona's footsteps. It makes the state of Arizona look like they oppose immigrants which might not be the case.
I think this article does employ stereotypes because they spotlight on hispanic immigrants. Although the article is meant to be mainly on immigration that affects hispanics, it indirectly creates stereotypes. I think the article does activate stereotypes because someone who has only first read or heard about this issue will assume only hispanic immigrants have this issues, which isn't true.
I have read his work before and I think he makes excellent points in all of his work. Although, some of this work is hard to understand in the way he states things.
I feel this article is very informative but doesn't seem accurate or trustworthy. I liked that the writer gave a lot of detail to attention and provided the reader with a lot of facts. I also liked the fact that many quotes were used to support the entire concept. The only problem I had with this article is the way it was written.
