I cannot for the life of me understand what Repubs have against EDUCATION and HEALTH CARE! Do we want to raise our standard of living in this country or don't we? Are they proud that we have close to 50 MILLION Americans without health care, and untold young people who cannot currently find a job NOR do they have money for school! Since the tie between lack of literacy and jail inmates has been proven, would they rather just build more JAILS? Pay now or pay later. What a waste.
I too wish this article had included Bush's comment about his Presidency being "Joyous" every day. He didn't get it then and he never will.
I don't believe a WORD of it. In the first place, the president should not have that kind of TIME on his hands. And he went to bed early they always said. In the second place, nobody who read that many books could remain such a narrow minded MORON.
Provokative. I had never thought about the fact that maybe the reason the Bush Adm. acted so foolishly was due to some feeling of GUILT that they weren't watching the store on 9/11. Very possible. If not, they SHOULD feel guilty.
It sure appears that the Bush Adm gave Israel the go ahead to attack Gaza on NOVEMBER 5, once they saw that the presidency was going to a Dem. Shame on Bush for once again,, standing by while the Israelis are sealing off all borders of the Gaza strip and keep out food, medicine and fuel...in essence, starving women and children. Why do U.S. media not report that ISRAEL not Hamas fired the first rockets? Obama will treat this kind of situation more fairly and attempt to keep the ... More »
The writer neglected to write anything about the opportnity cost of this unnecessary war and occupation; that is, what we have given up, in order to take our eye off the ball. 1) we have broken our military and because of that, we are more vulnerable to any attack at any time. 2) we have caused tens of thousands (perhaps a million or more) to be killed and driven from their homes. 3) we have allowed Iran and Korea to develop nuclear power, while we were mired down in Iraq. 4) we have squandered most of the good will we had from the rest of the world after 9/11. 5) we have caused the most serious financial crisis in this country since the Great Depression, and continue to put 10-12 billilon dollars a month into Iraq. 6) ... Hard to believe that the Repubs would llet 3 million people lose their jobs and start what could very well be a DEPRESSION.
This is so disingenuous. Bush first says he absolutely WOULD have invaded, even without WMD info; now he says he really can't say. Rove is trying to rewrite history FOR him, saying he would not have invaded had he "known." It was his BUISNESS to "know!" He HAD all the information about 9/11, but didn't READ it. He was too busy kicking back in Crawford, taking more vacations than any president in the history of the U.S.! If you wanted anyone to believe you Karl, you would b ... More »
Not really. FOr one thing, Congress HAS passed the extension of unemployment benefits, one of the writer's complaints. And if she's wrong on a point that large, she didn't do her homework.
I am not surprised in the least, that there are hungry Americans. I have been there. While this country is trying to "police" and "feed" the world, I would like them to get a grip and look at their own neighbors and countrymen. I think it's about time we took care of AMERICANS first. That is our prime responsibility.

I am so sick and tired of people who are shooting down Obama BEFORE HE EVEN TAKES THE OATH of office. How would YOU like people to criticize you before you even began a job? After what we've had for the last 8 years and all the MESS he has to clean up, I would think for ONCE, everyone in this cotton-pickin' country of ours could pull TOGETHER to get things back on track. If we don't, America isn't going to survive.
