I think the better question is the budget in such rough shape that collective barganing should be taken away from public employees forever. The governor in private seems to see this more as an opotunity for union busting.

I find the silver market fascinating. Apparently Morgan is creating a copper EFT. Perhaps to offset silver shorts. Copper is an industrial metal. What will happen if much of it is squirreled away by investors? Quantitative easing (printing lots of fiat money) seems to be having unintended consequences for the Federal reserve. I've read that when a debt crisis happens. It happens fast. New legislation looks like it will add about a trillion dollars to the US debt. I'm ... More »

This story is way under reported. JP morgan is under investigation for manipulating the comex silver market. Someone caluclated that JP morgan have more shorts than exist in the world. Is JP Morgan working as an agent of the US government to keep the value of silver down to make fiat money look better? The price of silver is going up and is going to squeze the naked shorts. this could cause the price of silver to explode. I've read this is silver forums for a long time and discounted it.

We have 11 million illegal aliens here and they will send back 400K this year. The article doesn't mention any estimate of how many came into this country. It also fails to mention what percentage of the people deported have been deported before. I disagree with Janet's assertion that the rest should be given amnisty. All illegal alliens have broken the law and thus should be deported. I didn't know the goveremnt could pick and choose what criminals you can go after. I wonder if the government feels the same way about people not paying taxes. Do they only go after the worst and let the rest go? We are continually given the false argument that all illegal aliams can not be deported. It seems to me that if we keep ... More »

Isn’t Mitch running on the platform of Borrowing trillions from China to keep the Bush tax cuts going? The GOP plan doesn’t address how to deal with any of the entitlement programs which are the biggest part of the problem.

I like this story. I'm not sure it is fair to prudish side of the argument. this is a blog though.

I think it is wrong to censor this clip. It is nothing that kids couldn't see at the beach. I guess pruds don't take their kids to the beach. Katie took the time to shoot this clip for PBS. I have much greater respect for her than her troubled peers Lohan and Hilton. Just goes to show no good deed goes unpunishished.

I agree with the headline. Borrowing from China to lower our taxes is nuts. The sunset provision makes gridlock very desirable in this situation.

typical opion from a sanctuary city. Rewarding foriegners for illegal conduct is always wrong. It is even a bigger mistake when so many US Citizens are in hard times. I say federal funds would be better used hiring more ice agents to deport illegal aliens and seal the border.

I like Powell, but he is another republican looking for cheap labor to satisfy his ricj base. He had to walk this one back. Abusing illegal labor must still be a crime. Passing the dream act when so many American citizens are unemployed is unconscionable. Let’s put American citizen’s back to work deporting illegal aliens. That would be a much better use of federal funds.

This is story is slanted. The NY Times wants’ amnesty. the people in the story are called undocumented immigrants instead of illegal aliens. The Merman’s in Utah for the most part believe in the rule of law. Helping your neighbor's break the law is not the way to love them. I believe the paper's leaders are more worried about cheap labor than illegal aliens. I think Utah will follow Arizona’s lead.

Shows why we need to fund deporting illegal aliens fully. 400K a year is obvously not enough. Wasting money spent on building cases just to have Obama say drop them is nuts. When will either party get serious on enforcing immigration law.

This article is slanted to give optimal sympathy to people dieing while committing crimes. Filling water in blue barrels is helping people commit crimes and atracting people to come die in the desert.

If human right people were really concerened about these people they would work to keep people from crossing the border illegally.

People for strict immigration enforcement are always being accused of breaking up families and xzenophobia. I think the people that condone illegal immigration helped lead these 72 people to slaughter and the many more that die in the desert.
