Where to start? Tendentious? Yup. AMFO- the same chemicals as are used in car bombs? Yes, it's the same chemical. And - horrors - it's probably in the food you eat on account of the demonic pact between big pharma, big oil, and big food. Blowing the tops off mountains near Wise Va? Yup. They have lots of mountaintops in Wise and not many jobs. Most of the folks would make the trade. The writer needs to spend some time in that environment. Try to make enough to send your kids to ... agree with Ms. Isler. The article isn't journalism - it's antisemitic advocacy.

Two issues make this story highly questionable: accuracy and tone. First to accuracy. A single example - Adam Ake, the USMA grad. He didn't spend seven years as a platoon leader in Korea. Not possible. Platoon leaders are Lieutenants. In seven years, he would be a mid-term Captain. Something smells here. That doesn't even touch his statistics regarding the number of initial entry trainees requiring waivers. The 20% figure is absurd. Second, the article's tone. No opportunities ... More »

I call BS. First, full auto AK47s aren't sold at gun shows. They're class 3 weapons, and as such, require very tight control with respect to background checks for purchasers. Second, full auto AKs aren't made in the United States. They're generally made in the old Soviet bloc or in China. It makes no sense whatever to push them through the US to Mexico. Much easier to ship into Mexico directly from the source. This story fails the common sense test, largely because the writer ... More »

He's doing nothing illegal? Did they repeal the sedition statutes? What about the conflict between his ambitions to bring on jihad versus the lack of consideration for dissenting opinion that happens in countries with sharia law?

Yasir Arafat and Le Duc Tho, call your offices. Calling this lickspittle journalism would be an insult to lickspittles.

It's speculative and intentionally tendentious. Real people's lives are at stake and the WaPo once again conflates advocacy with journalism.

This isn't journalism. It's advocacy. Unnamed sources sniping at people who have responsibility to do a job. Just about what one should expect.

That's right. What kind of idiot would try to put together a hijacking with a few half-wits using box cutters? I mean, like, none of these guys was a master criminal. Not nearly as smart as me. Preposterous.

Another clear hatchet job from the NYT. Counterarguments, or other evidence? Nope. Just more one sided opinion masquerading as journalism.

Nicely done if your intent is to whack the Bush Administration. There seems to be a memory hole down which 8 years of the Clinton Administration disappeared. Accountability? Hardly.
