For the most part the article tells the story clearly. The reporters leave out an important part of this story who is actually supporting and paying for this lawsuit. Olsen is no liberal or gay supporter. He is being paid as is Boles to fight this fight. The American Foundation for Equal Rights the same people who were behind the Harvey Milk movie are paying for this lawsuit.
Yes. The article is well written and it comes to a good conclusion. The writer analyzes both candidates and takes a look at strengths and weaknesses. After considerable vetting the conclusion is that Obama represents hope for change and ran a superb campaign.
This is an essay based on an upcoming book. I already have it reserved at my library. Tells the tale of modern conservatism and the crooks that turned it into a profitable quasi religious experience for young republicans. This story is very frightening but it makes the reader aware of what we are up against trying to take back our country. This is really good journalism and if there were more missives like this at least those who want to be informed can be.
In a well sourced story Mike Whitney explains the finacial crisis of freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. In additon Mike lays out a case agains Paulson our Treasury Secretary that is trying to manipulate another swindle of the American public and global investors.
In a really good investigative piece in Rawstory a very slimy part of Alabama politics is revealed. Very heavy on interviews and public documents the investigative staff of Rawstory including Larisa Alexandrovna have worked on this story. Most of us are aware of the Siegelman case that has been in the news but this is another example of the political use of the US Attorney's office.
A very well sourced story and well worth the read. Americans are very dumb compared to their world counterparts. Testing and research reports reveal how dumb we really are. This a national disgrace and it definitly affects governance of the country when the electorate is to stupid to vote.
The Bank For International Settlements just released a report that excoriates the Central Banks for bad practices and puts the blame on them for the current crisis. The BIS goes on to make suggestions to change the system. In this short article the reporters paraphrase the report and provide insite into the document. The report was released just in time for an internation meeting.
With plenty of facts and quotes to support the story Richard B. Schmitt goes on to explain the court ruling. He quotes the minority decision and interviews a legal scholar for some incite. The writer goes on to point out Barak Obama might benefited from this law that was struck down. Ironically it was the McCain Feingold Act.
James Howard Kunstler the autohor of this blog the Author of The Long Emergency and World Made By Hand is a futurist. He believes that the world is going to go through drastic changes because we are running out of oil. In this article he talks of the banking crisis coming to a head and he predicts a long hard depression. This article might shock some but it is a good read and there is a need to face reality. We have some hard times coming and we need to get to grips with it soon.
Based on statistics, current trends, and analysis this AP article states that Wall Street is very shaky at the moment. Stocks have lost everything they have gained in the last year. Investors are leary of the current economic state of the country and they have been burnt a few times already.
in a good story from McClatchy's Steven Thomma point out using quotes and historical comparisons the lack of donations by big supporters to the 527 groups. He points out many reasons for this phenomena. This story is not trying to be opinionated it only lays out what is happening on the Republican side.
Right from the Rove handbook attack your opponent at their strongest point. John McCain has built up a mystique about his war service. Is it real or is it hype? So far he has refused to release his records. As pointed out in this article some left blogs and individuals are examining the obvious. Whatever his service in Viet Nam how does it enable him to be President? Does twenty three mission bombing innocent civilians make him a hero? Does prisoner of war entitle him to be president? His military record is non-exemplary. His conduct at Annapolis was marginal he graduated at the bottom of his class. McCain is not a scholar. The article points out that this topic might be fair game for discussion but will it fly with the public.
Seymour Hirsch is the most prominent investigative reporter we have in this country. In this story finely detailed with quotes gathered from interviews and sources within the government. Hirsch exposes the operation that are going on inside of Iran. These operations although funded by congress were limited in scope but the administration as ususal has different ideas. The fears of many prominent generals and including Sec Gates is that it will escalate into something we will not be able to control.
This article states the obvious that a McCain victory would skew the court to the right. It does not make the case that an Obama victory would probably do the same for the left. The reporter states that the most likely to retire are left leaning Justices but he fails to mention that Kennedy and Scalia would likely retire during a prolonged Democratic retention of the Whitehouse. The right side of the court is a politically driven portion of our court. The so called left side is much more concerned with Justice than ideologies that is why you have much greater array of decisions. Unlike the right wing of our court that walks in lock step.
In this very long and well documented article the reporter shines light on Sheldon Adelson. Adelson the third richest man in this country uses his wealth like a bludgeon and his power extends across countries and continents. Although the article doesn't point this out it clearly illustrates the unfairness of our tax system.. How the system highly skewed to favor the rich allows individuals to gain enormous wealth. This wealth is detrimental to freedom when one individual can wield so much power. Although Mr Adelson donates millions to many varied charities and organizations it does not always come without strings attached. This is an excellent article that details the rise of Mr Adelson and reads like an epic novel.
In a very important story Mike Whitney makes his case that speculators are driving up the oil prices. With quotes and facts he points the finger at the Fed, and the major banks that have caused the finacial collapse of this country. The same people who have brought us the sub prime fiasco are now cashing in with Fed money on the commodities market.
An interesting article in the ABA Journal says,. "The dean of Massachusetts School of Law at Andover is planning a September conference to map out war crimes prosecutions, and the targets are President Bush and other administration officials." This quote and others tell an interesting story that is unfolding.
Disappointing some people mostly Republicans Obama has opted out of public financing. Faced with criticism from those who would rather see him lose and some who feel he broke his promise Obama was faced with a dilemma. The blog piece is both informative and is credible in its explanation for the decision. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure this one out. He is a politician and he wants to win. He would be derelict to his constituency if he didn't make the decision he did.
This is an opinion piece that delves into the world of fantasy. It starts out stating the obvious that Obama has opted out of Public Finance. The author does not criticize Obama for that but instead goes into a semi rant on past situations where millionaires have controlled our elections.
A well reported story using facts and figures to support the piece. The reporter lays out the a new crisis for the minor regional banks. Massive rise in defaults in auto loans, construction loans, home equity loans, and credit card defaults are affecting the second tier of banking.
An opion piece from a law professor at Yale University. The authors bonafides are impeccable and his take on the Supreme court decision is very clear. A good report and well worth reading.
In an opinion piece by John W Dean he brings out some very interesting points. Dean says that McClellan's testimony is not privileged and can not be exempted by the Whitehouse. He quotes Obama and brings up the presidential customary courtesy of disregarding indiscretions of previous Whitehouse's. This custom is not mandatory.
An interesting piece about the plight of families trying to make it on Food stamps. The article centers on New York where the cost of food is higher than most other cities. Food has risen faster than most other items and families are feeling the pinch. The writer follows several NYC families and interviews them regarding shopping habits.

Numerous media outlets reported McCain's attack on Obama over public financing without noting McCain's loan
The McCain campaign has challenged their opponent to accept public funding. The media has not been reporting this story fairly. Media Matters exposes the deceptive tactics that avoid a little discussed problem McCain has with financing his campaign. Loaded with facts , quotes, and explanations of Federal Election Finance Laws the problem is massive for McCain and his bid for President.
With many quotes the religion reporter for the WAPO relates a meeting Obama had with evangelical Christian groups. This is a first for the Democrats that have usually ceded this group to the Republicans.
This is one of those muckraking stories the type that doesn't appear in our newspapers. What does these days? Koreans are protesting the letting of US beef back into their system. The papers have been handling the story as unrest with the government. Nine people have died of the results of Mad Cow Disease in the US in so many months. Mike Whitney uses many quotes and interviews to substantiate his story. Knowing how this government has functioned this last eight years these allegations are more than likely true and need full investigation.
It is what journalism should be about. By shining a light on the relationship of McCain to the press we can see there is an inherit favoritism.
A short story in a nbc affiliate blog. The story quotes Governor Schwarzenegger and Barbara Boxer as well as others in regards to drilling off the California coast. The story also quotes Gov Crist of Fla and his oppositon to offshore drilling.
A good article with lots of facts and quotes to support the story. The story is very important as it effects everyone that goes to the pumps. The industry that brought us the greatest financial debacle in history is at it again. Only this time the same cast of players is manipulating the commodities markets. Not only do are they manipulating the market they don't want any regulations to stop them.
In a not too good story Howard Kurtz just rambles on about all sort of media stuff. This is a long article that basically says nothing. The jist is that the Dems are saying McCain is too old and the Republicans expressing righteous indignation are calling foul. Any moment they will stick their tongues out at each other and McCain will give Obama a wedgie.
This story explains the problems of moderate Republicans trying to bend the party so as not to hurt their objectives of moving the party more to the center. The Conservatives on the other hand need to flex to accept their presidential choices viewpoints that sometimes run counter to their agenda.
In a good journalistic story the writer explains the mess McClatchy Co is in. He describes their debt problem that is plaguing this company. This is just one company in many caught up in the worst finacial plague in history.
This was just a rant against Al Gore. Whatever Gore's reasoning he has chosen to stay out of the political arena and devoted full energy to global warming. He has been bruised enough by the system. Gore refrained from trying to influence the public.
In a really good story Jeffrey Klein explains away the myth of John McCain. In an article that appeared in the NY Time in May McCain is glorified with having earned his Admiral stars but chose to go into politcs instead. The rest of the story goes on to explain that McCain like his hero Bush the Lesser has reached mythological status in his own mind. Through a series of interviews military records, and other facts the author shows McCains military career was not stellar.
Not particularly good journalism because the story has limited value. Although the writer presents his facts he makes no opinions.
With comparisons, interviews and relevant facts it unravels the politcal ratings business. I believe it gave some good insite into a sometimes skewed ratings system.
In an interesting interview with an Iranian dissident, author, and journalist we get a viewpoint with an Iranian perspective. Some very valid points are raised and it is worth reading.
In an interesting opinion piece from George Will he scorns John McCains dumb comment regarding a narrow decision by the Supreme Court to uphold the right of Habeas Corpus Since most conservative writerers and opinionators have heretofore walked in lock step this was good to read. McCains comment was doublespeak and Will was right when he made a snide comment. McCain needs to do better before making a public statement.

Proposition 8 was very deceptive in its presentation to the public. All of the money was spent in support of the measure and little if anything was spent to defeat it. This proposition passed because of heavy advertising it will take a similar effort to reverse it with another opposite measure.
