It is refreshing to see Congress finally asking questions, verbally stating their position/s, and exerting some oversight. This is a 180 degree change from the last 6 years of rubberstamping everything thrown at them from the White House. Now let's hope the majority in congress rally behind Feingold & those like him.
This is a very well written article. It is just more evidence of how Bush is not only at odds with 75% of Americans but also with the Joint Chiefs, exactly the military experts he has claimed to take his directions re Iraq from all these years. This is painfully reminiscent of Vietnam where escalating the war and throwing more bodies into the fire did absolutely nothing in the final analysis.
Brazil deserves credit for at least trying to become independent of foreign oil and reduce emissions at the same time. The story also demonstrates that when gasoline is cheap, people lose interest in getting away from it. In that regard, the Brazilian president is smart to wean his people.
I know less than nothing about economics yet this story made perfect sense to me. It is very well composed, totally understandable, and quite interesting.
This is a good preview of what to expect from the new, Democrat controlled congress. The whining expressed by some is pathetic. I expect it is clear to most that accepting a full time legislative position in DC means less time with the family unless they move. We'd all like to know our elected officials are working at least as hard as we are so this has been a long time coming.
