The NewsTrust format and idea are interesting for the possibility of a democratically influenced news source. It provides another channel for getting news and views out to the public, a channel without a visible filter of the corporate press.

Pitts gives needed ink to a critical aspect of what has become US "news." The Europeans are to be thanked for helping us to see ourselves (including our dominant sick media) as others see us. In the words of Robert Burns: “Oh wad some power the giftie gie us To see oursel's as others see us! It wad frae monie a blunder free us, And foolish notion”

The faux fox f***s facts. Much more and more frequent blowback is needed to singe the backside of these lie machines that otherwise reasonable people actually believe and echo. Democracy depends upon an informed citizenry, and these lie machines are a part of the forces destroying democracy and creating our present pathetic plutocracy. The super rich and dogmatic buying and directing Faux seem to have that as an intentional strategy.

It’s amazing, the things you can get used to, that can come to seem normal. In America, it has come to seem normal that a major news organization functions as the ... More »

The faux is in charge of the hen house, intent on de-representing the people and their strong demands for civil rights and human rights. Whom do these faux representatives represent? I resent their representation.

This reads like a puff piece for the nuke industry. Biologists are not the sole, nor necessarily the best experts on the full range of safety risks, nor effects upon dwindling water supplies, nor risks of diversion to weapons. The article is sorely lacking a critical review by the necessary range of experts, and the technical credentials of this handful of biologists is scarcely mentioned other than some political connections.

Until all nuclear countries plan and pay for repositories for nuclear wastes, repositories that will survive intact and undisturbed for some 200,000 years while the waste is lethal, no new nukes should be built, and all old nukes should be decommissioned.

Kuo publishes the pope's statement, but then curiously follows the moral leader of a major religion with the prattling self-serving opinion of the financiers of big oil, and the drug induced insane flaming ramblings of drug-rush Limbaugh as though he actually had a religion. The depravity of this descent into he said; she said framing may have been intended to show how ridiculous the counter-views are, but seem to be very bad journalism in that many lightly informed readers may ... The Laura Poitras interview is followed by an equally fascinating interview with Jeremy Scahill re the Blackwater verdict.

The NSA net appears to becoming entangled with some thorny facts that expose its overreach. The Blackwater verdict proves once again that the principle perpetrators are "too big to jail".

A compact pushback on the lying of Rand Paul and the Republican party, which you tend not to see in a mainstream media source that is afraid of having their "access" cut off for not being a good spewer of uncritical propaganda for the class war.
