It's a good story and I am disgusted with the killing of innocent men, women and children, but we have to remember who started this terrible invasion. People are right to protest and the United States has to be better about things and stop supporting Israel no matter what and the Bush administration has failed badly. Just another one of their failures

I agree with Tom McCarthy and this is the kind of story I have come to expect from the Los Angeles Times. Not a very good newspaper anymore. It is really pathetic journalism. It has been two weeks since Obama won the nomination and idiot writers and other pundits are aleady attacking him for not doing anything. What a joke these people are.
It's just ridiculous to write a story like this so soon after the election. What would this writer be saying about John McCain if he had won. ... More »
I'm glad he finally wrote something like this and wish he would have written it sooner. He's obviously a very intelligent man and a very moral one who was doing what he could to protest yet another criminal war America was involved in.
It was outrageous McCain and his stupid campaign tried to paint Ayers the way they did and eventually most thinking people realized what bs they ... More »
Not sure how good this is and it flys against everything I understand about Pelosi and the Republicans especially. Why is it always the Democrats who have to be bi-partisan? This story is really kind of propaganda about what is going to happen in the next congress. A leopard cannot change it's spots and Republicans will never be bi-partisan. They lost and deserved to.
Pelosi has got to be tougher and we don't need anti-Humanist Republicans to pass decent legislation for a change. Let them moan and whine and ... More »
Ha ha, I couldn't help giving this a perfect score. Of course anyone with brains knows the New Yorker has some of the best writing in the world ever! Nice cartoon too. It's not just simple minded people who can't seem to make up their own minds or have opinions of their own to show them how to act and what to do, it is also the quasi-idiots who prattle on about voting for the "man" instead of the party. It's probably a wonder America has lasted as long as it has and ... More »
These people who cannot seem to make up their minds until the very last day they can vote practically should be put out of their misery, ha ha. ... More »
This a good story, simply written and kind of tongue in cheek for that matter. If had more respect for the AP I would rate it higher. Talk about wishful thinking by poor old John claiming he can still somehow win the election! Ironic he is speaking of bigger government after the horrible excesses of the quasi criminal Bush administration the past eight years that has destroyed America's economy. It's shameful he is trying to flog that poor old half dead horse again. McCain ... More »
The worst thing about this story is that tens of millions of Americans will still vote for McCain after all the horrible things he and Bush and ... More »
Wow. What a great story and the fact it is written by a white former Republican male gives it even more credibility. Republicans must be crying in their beer reading this story, and it is mostly true what the writer says about Obama. He might not exactly be the second coming, but after the horrible creature in the White House now, Obama is a beacon of hope shining on America. I think he will be one of the best presidents we have ever had and he is obviously a uniter and ... More »

This could have been fleshed out a lot more and I had never heard of this seemingly crazed woman before I saw her on MSNBC. I thought she was some kind of a horrid joke. Matthews obviously let this ridiculous woman rant and rave to show how most Republican politicians are these days. This woman is easily in the top five of the worst politicians in Congress. Especially disgusting because she is a from a place like Minnesota whose inhabitants should know better than to vote ... More »

It's a very well written story and there are tens of millions of people out there like Barbie who are having a hard time getting through their hard working lives. I agree with her about politicians, but I think Obama has proven he cares about ordinary Americans and McCain obviously doesn't. If Barbie is worried about Obama and said she has always voted for Democrats, why the sudden change? He is far from perfect, but McCain would be a disaster as president. Barbie ... More »

I love this story, but admit that I am nuts about Arianna and boy has she changed since I first watched her on television. I think she was married to some rich Republican pervert back then. It just goes to show that even conservatives can get religion. I love the format of her site and happy it is doing well. I have never watched the Sludge report and never will. Had no idea how Arianna started out in life and she has really made it because of her intelligence and ... More »

I don't think this is very good journalism. Maybe if it was published by someone other than the LA Times, which I have very little respect for, I would put more faith in what these so called experts say. The fact is, any health care plan by a Democrat compared to a Republcan is going to be so far superior there will be comparison. Republicans just seem to hate people, except for their own precious hides and do not want most Americans to have decent health care. They ... More »

It's a good story, supported by facts instead of suppositions and Republicans have more or less destroyed America. Nothing has gone right for most of us and we are suffering and for conservative/right wing newspeople to say we are going to elect another Republican for four more years of hell is ridiculous. John McCain is a caricature of the man he once was and he wasn't that great through most of his earlier life for that matter. He is just a sad, desperate old man and ... More »

It appears to be a very in depth story about this incredible woman. She is a breath of fresh air and is one of only two really decent newscasters on Cable. Olberman paved the way for her and Rachel is just as good and maybe even smarter. Cable and networks are owned by big business companies, virtually all of them conservative Republicans and worse. The handwriting is on the wall and hopefully there will be more people like these two eventually, but I'm not holding my ... More »

I love Frank Rich and wish there were more like him. I think the New York Times is finally starting to be more like they were were when they published "The Pentagon Papers." Not sure if the Washington Post is back to honest reporting. Rich shows just how terrible McCain has become, not that he was a very good man to begin with. He seems to be proud of his vicious temper and brags about how much of a maverick he is. If he voted against Bush 90% of the time, then he would be a ... More »
All I can say is that this is a very good story, written by a very experienced and honest writer. It is just incredible what is happening in this campaign for president. McCain is acting like a man who has truly lost his marbles. I think his demeanor at the debate shows he is unfit to be president, or to continue being a senator for that matter. He is an angry man near the end of his life and cannot be trusted to do the right things anymore. I almost feel sorry for Sarah Palin and ... More »
This is one of the few stories I have read that that says what really happened last night. It is not a knee jerk reaction and I agree with almost all of what the writer says. Wonder how many people were turned off McCain's nastiness and there is a reason he was called McNasty at the Naval Academy. He seems to be almost proud of his angry demeanor. I am happy for Obama that McCain acted like a spoiled child, who wouldn't have made his high school debating team with the behaviour he ... More »
I think this is a pretty good story and it is true that most of the media is giving Palin a get out of jail free pass because they are not covering many of the things she has done and/or been accused of doing. I hate to admit it but I have been reading the Inquirer rag they sell at check out stands, but then again that tabloid first broke the news about Edwards, which has proven to be true. This is the most ridiculous choice for a VP any presidential candidate has ever made, by far. ... More »
Ha ha, this is a great story and way overdue for the NYTimes to start printing the truth about pathetic McCain and the several hundred lobbyists running his campaign. I saw Davis on tv saying he didn't lobby for the two giants, and it cracked me up. These people are either really stupid or insane. McCain has flown around on planes owned by lobbyists for most of his career in the Senate. They own the poor old guy. If these lying thieves steal this election we can all try to bend over ... More »
Reich is a good writer and this is a fairly written story about the white collar crooks on Wall Street. It is really disgusting they want a free ride, while the bosses are walking away with millions in salaries and payoffs. Same old ripoff Republican owned corporations and businesses. They are always screwing up and wasting shareholders money and getting off scot free and now they wants us to bail them out for their crooked acts. Reich doesn't go far enough. The wealthy in this ... More »
It was almost agonizing to read this about Sarah Palin. It is like a nightmare actually and hard to believe McCain did this and even harder to believe he is running even with Obama. This woman is not qualified for more than the first job she had as mayor of town, which doesn't require much acumen or intelligence. For tiny towns like Wasilla anyway. It is a very lightly populated state and being governor of Alaska, which seems to be a haven for people who just can't or won't make it ... More »
No, this is sloppy writing by a man who should have known better. Easy to review this and it is a disgusting story about racist Republicans. The Family Research Council was founded by James Dobson! Enough said, hmmm? These people pretend to be Christians and the vast majority are racist and sexist.

AK Judiciary Committee Votes to Authorize Subpoenas in Trooper-Gate, Including for Todd Palin

Sure, it's a good story and something that will be reported in much more depth in the MSM. I would say this is the beginning of the end for St Sarah. It's early days and this is just a news report and not meant to be reported in depth. It does hint at the corruption in Alaska and the stupidity of the Republican party there and everywhere for that matter. I wouldn't be surprised if this medicocre woman is just being used as a stalking horse and she will be forced to resign and McCain ... More »
I happen to know that much of this story is so untrue although it does appear that Palin has stood up to the Republicans, which is pretty much of a joke. She belongs to GOPAC and is determined to destroy Alasks by letting big oil and big coal rape the beautiful state of Alaska. Killing off all the wildlife in the process. She is despicably pro business, anti everything that is decent and good. This is nothing but a puffery piece pretending Palin is a Populist politician in Alaska ... More »
Guess although I am a bit puzzled by this story, mostly I agree with the premises. It's good writing and I like the style, but it should have more raw meat in it. Throwaway comments are pretty good. I think most Americans are still puzzled by this woman and more importantly why McCain would select her. On the face of things she would be a good choice, but she is so far to the right on most issues and her personal life is rather suspicious and I think she hastily selected at the last ... More »
This is a good story written by a reporter with brains. I'd like to know who the suck up female commentator was who claimed Sarah Palin is an exciting choice. Freeman has it right and it a stupid and scary choice. It is still early days but there are going to be a slew of stories about poor Palin. She has already covered up and lied about things in her past. There are several reasons she is being investigated not only the one about her trying to get her ex brother in law fired. She ... More »
I can't believe News Trust would put this story up for review. The writing is pathetic and guy should stick to his radio show, which is no doubt right wing flavored silliness. What this guy is saying that a few years (or however many) service as mayor of a town with 7,000 people qualifies her to be vice president of the United States, a heartbeat away from the Presidency. Her short tenure as governor has not gone so well, apparently. There are not that many people in the whole state. ... More »
Hmm, hardly worth wasting my time reviewing this. It is pathetic journalism and heavily slanted for McCain and an attack on Barrack Obama. These guys are Republicans or paid by Repugs to write nonsense like this. Do Americans want a really ignorant woman to answer the phone at three in the morning. McCain isn't much better, ha ha.
It's sad the New York Times has sunk so low and while this is partly true that the Bush administration is prepared for another Katrina, the point is the ridiculous and even criminal FEMA is not behind this. The work is being overseen by the Defense Department. FEMA is corrupt and inept from the top down. Cheroff should face criminal charges along with the thug of a president who hired him.
This is one of the best written stories I have read in quite awhile and it is very informative especially concerning the pathetic MSM. Fifteen thousand news jerks at the convention and 4000 delegates. That's the problem. Even four hundred news creeps would be too many. I watched the convention on C Span and it was so great not have to put up with the idiots and their stupid patter. It will be harder to reform the corrupt media than to get America going again. I'm not sure when the ... More »
No, this is very unfair journalism. Attacking the least wealthy U.S. senator for eight paragraphs or so and writing only two sentences about McCain's incredible wealth. Compared to mine, ha ha. Well compared to over 95% or more of ordinary Americans. Considering the worth of senators who have been in Congress for as long as Biden, seems to me he relatively poor! This story doesn't point out that Biden is basically a self made man, just like Obama. Certainly compared to John McCain, ... More »
Darn, wish I could have seen some of these antics by the reporters on MSNBC, but I always watch C-Span. It's ridiculous there are nearly three times as many news creeps as delegates at the convention. Talking heads is exactly what they are. This is a good story and have felt that several people on MSNBC are not completely beyond the pale. Mainly Olbermann and perhaps Rachel Maddow as well. None of the mass media are being honest or Obama would be way out in front of McCain. It's ... More »

Michael Moore Dares to Ask: What's So Heroic About Being Shot Down While Bombing Innocent Civilians? - War on Iraq

It takes a lot of guts to get in a light fighter/bomber plane on an aircraft carrier and take off to drop bombs on targets. First though, let's stop referring to McCain as a fighter pilot. Fighter pilots are real heroes. McCain was brave but not a hero. Dropping napalm and HE on populated areas, is not heroic. It's more like mass murder. Most of his missions were over Hanoi or many were. McCain himself admitted to Mike Wallace and others he was ashamed of killing innocent Vietnamese ... More »
This seems like a typical Post story these days, and not really done in any depth and more of a puffery article. It does show that McCain's campaign is way behind Obama's and will never catch up. This doesn't point out how nasty and silly the McCain campaign is being run. Apparently they are just recycling Hillary's campaign against Obama. The guy who claims to be a disaffected Hillary Democrat is full of it. The guy was a manager and obviously a Republican, just claiming to be a ... More »
I almost cried reading this story and it is a good one and sad that Blacks had to resort to threatening presidents to get them to do the right thing. Randolph is a hero and I'm sure most Black people know who he is. It's ironic JFK gave in and a huge crowd gathered to hear Martin Luther King and then almost immediately Kennedy was gone, assassinated by the same forces that would later kill MLK. One thing about Truman ending discrimination in the Armed Forces in 1948; it actually ... More »
I do like TPM and this story kind of befuddles me. It seems Obama is pulling in as much money as McCain and other Republicans put together. Obama made almost 8 million bucks in one night recently. This story seems kind of a selective hand wringing one to me. Obama said at the fund raising recemtly for people to keep cool. He is too smart to lose this election and McCain is obviously going crazy because he knows he has already lost, or that is how I feel. These stories are good if ... More »
It seems that writer has done his homework and it does show how much more money Obama can raise than the Republican guy. Obviously he was smarter than the Republicans not to accept public financing. It really doesn't matter that those types did accept it because they raise more than enough dirty money to make up any shortfalls. Republicans have historially won elections by buying them, not to mention running dirty campaigns like the one going on now. Obama is no John Kerry and I feel ... More »
This is a good story, insofar as it goes, but as the articles says the guy is writing a book about soldiers who commit suicide. Perhaps those soldiers would have killed themselves anyway, but we will never know for sure and the callousness of the Bush administration in screwing soldiers who have served in combat is one of the reasons theys are doing that. The mainline media deserves a huge amount of blame. Maybe if we had honored the dead and taken care of the wounded there wouldn't ... More »
This couldn't have been written any better and Alterman and "The Nation" are about as good as it gets. I was stunned by what Milbank wrote and think a lot of other people were too. Alterman should have pointed how conservative the Washington Post is now although the Post and the New York Times and other formerly great publications have sunken to new lows as far as political news is concerned. Watergate would have never become a big story if these newspapers were like they are now and ... More »
Joe Conason is a very good writer and he he did make his point about John McCain and the people behind him. If a Democrat had used Wikipedia so blatantly, he or she would have been crucified by all the media, but once again McCain is given a free pass. The story shows that McCain and his handlers are indeed very stupid men and arrogant to boot. Or maybe just desperate to get their talking dummy to say something right away about the invasion of Georgia. I wonder if McCain had any idea ... More »
I guess my bias against the seemingly conservative Washington Post is well deserved. The editors are obviously Republicans who love John McCain, or that is my impression. Lots of good columnists and writers there, but they aren't the bosses. Polls are so ridiculous now, but even they show that McCain is in bad shape. I think the writer points that out pretty good. He is way off base about the race factor and I think the silliness of the McCain campaign is not illustrated either. Call ... More »
