Textbook journalism. Get out there and check the facts, and get the facts. Thoroughly hyper-linked. Dobbs' claims could have gone on and on, but it takes just one journalist doing her job to put stop to the bull.
This is a very fair and well written story. The first statement though - "The idea of 'economic peace' suggests an economic conflict, and the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is certainly not that." - is completely wrong. A stronger group strong arms a weaker group in order to steal their land, resources, and money. It's always about economics. And in this case it's also about the US stealing resources throughout the middle east. Don't forget the huge gas reserves that belong to ... More »
This is the most important story this year and only two papers covered it. We ain't gettin the whole truth folks.
Since when does NIMBY whining pass for ecological science. Where's is the evidence of environmental blight from these technologies?? Where is the side by side comparisons to the alternatives? This article smells more like a well thought through and well funded by fossil industry hit piece on alternative energy, cloaked and supported by NIMBYs.
This story lumps together a lot of different things happening in Mexico and calls it all a drug war. This is purposeful to produce the acceptance in the US public for what the bankers already plan to do next. I don't know what that is, but they do. Don't let this article fool you. We do not need to accept the hype or their military 'solutions'.
When I ask myself, "who would be the best guy to have come up with the best questions to ask the bailout players", the first guy that pops into my head is this guy. Eliot Spitzer.

This is a rare, relatively honest story. It doesn't tell the whole story of coarse, but it updates an important part. I think all stories on this topic should begin with the presumption that this conflict is over resources, money, and land. (as all conflicts ultimately are)

The 911 commission drew generally positive reviews??? Mr. Shane fails to note that the 911 commission served to shield bad actors and actually hide the truth from the public. He doesn't ask or wonder if Mr. Leahy is actually seeking to shield bad actors and hide the truth from the public in the same way that the 911 commission did. Mr Shane could have done more on the benefits of criminal prosecutions. I still recommend this piece.
To Mr. Cheney, the Church legacy was a regrettable pruning of the president’s powers to protect the country — powers he and Bush administration lawyers reasserted after ... More »
Many of these frauds were reported in progressive media way back when it happened. The news here is that there is investigation. But that is where this story is thin on details and sources.
It's not that hard to identify pure propaganda. Notice the name calling in this piece? Apparently North Korea should give up it's A bombs for promises of massive aid and investment even though these promises weren't kept at all after North Korea shut it's A bomb program down. The article mentions that inter-Korean agreements were not kept by Lee Myung-bak, but fictionalizes Kim as a 'brinksman' to explain his outrage as if there is no good reason to be incensed. This is exactly ... More »

This is one of the best articles on this topic because the journalist has remembered to always FOLLOW THE MONEY.
A lot of positive quotes from friends does not make good research. I still know far less than I would need to to agree that Jones is a good pick.
This is the worst kind of journalism. The kind that takes an Imperialistic policy and propels it forward on a carpet of justifications and demands for even more. As if it's not enough that the US is now regularly striking at targets in a sovereign Pakistan, but now more tribes should be hit. It's not enough that Israel has been targeting people for assassination without due process, but now we should demand that the US do this around the globe?? Sick. Really really sick.
This is not rocket science. Korea met it's obligations to the agreement so fast it shocked the Bush administration. Only one truthful and useful paragraph is contained is this rubbish - "North Koreas negotiators have strenuously complained that the Bush administration has yet to fulfill its promise to remove North Korea from a list of state sponsors of terrorism, ..., and instead has made new demands." The US refused to meet it's obligations in the agreement. Case closed. Why ... More »
This story is just that, story. Fairytale. There are no groups in Iraq guided or lead by Bin Laden. If any of these journalists are doing their job at all, then they know this as well, and are intentionally misinforming the public. There should be a criminal penalty for such criminal activity.
