National Geographic - what can one say? It is what it is. Rains in the Antarctic & shivering, freezing baby penguins. Enough said.

Just gets scarier and scarier. Discovery Magazine is an excellent popular scientific journal, and the findings here are pretty much undisputed by the mainstream.
HA! Does my heart good to see this scrabbling by the Good Oil Party. As if their entire problem hasn't stemmed from selfishness
What she is saying, albeit in really wonderful & interesting language, is that blackness is more important that femaleness. I, personally, would like to see either Hillary or Obama win, but I'm rather more appalled that a woman has never been elected than that a black has not. After all, statistically speaking, there are more non-blacks in the country. BUT women make up 52% of our population!!!! We are the MAJORITY and STILL have minimal representation!!!@ So, I think Hillary being ... More »
This does NOT show the big picture. I love how conservatives will rip apart Bill, when the current regime is sooo much better at 'doing what ya gotta do' than even Slick Willie. At least Clinton does it with style, & without rancor or hate.
As someone else pointed out, straight news reporting of facts that the media should have been on top of at the time.
This is a very comprehensive overview of Google, it's structure, history, founders and vision. Must reading for all worried about Internet neutrality and privacy issues.
Interesting ideas. I am pretty tired of the whole 'Hillary's a *itch' concept (good for her, I say).
As another reviewer said, it's good that SOMEONE mentioned this. Our own 'news' sources are particularly silent. There is as much protest over this 'war' as over Vietnam, & from those OTHER than students, yet one would think only a small fringe group of people protest if all one watches is home-grown, corporate owned news. Bravo, BBC!
Appalling. People in developed countries need to be reminded just how far most of the world has to go.
"Men make decisions; women make dinner." Sheesh. Well, I want a wife who's graduated from this program. Certainly sounds like the Home Ec program I had to study in HS in the 60s. This article does a good job of explaining why such ridiculous gender polarization still exists.
This appalls me. This woman is a British subject and a scholar - our Nazi-like, ill-trained, insulting, petty little government bureaucrats have been given the go-ahead to RUIN this country in the eyes of the world!!
Excellent story. These Soviet-style tactics do NOT uncover the truth - they destroy the personality which makes it possible to make a prisoner incriminate himself to make his tormentors happy. So not only is this inhumane, but counterproductive! (at least for those interested in the TRUTH)
What we are doing to the US reputation for justice by allowing this travesty to continue may well be irreparable. These prisoners need to be TRIED and either punished or freed. Disgusting.
I must say, duh... I've been saying this since, well, since Cheney was picked as Dubya's running mate LOL Still, an informative, well-sourced article that gives facts.
This is an excellent story and brings up a true dichotomy in regards to convictions/overturned trials/appeals etc. No matter how much spin on 'law & order' someone puts, if the guy DID NOT kill the cop, then the REAL cop killer is in effect being protected by that DA. So much for justice.
Well, this is certainly what Republicans hope will happen. I must say that it is entirely possible that GUILIANI could win the election, so that part of this commentary rings true. However, Cohen fails to explain WHY Rudy might win (which would be that Guiliani is so definitely not a part of this failed administration)
Although the story ends rather abrubtly, it does cover pros & cons fairly well. Bottom line, health care in the US sucks, the health care industry wants to keep it that way, & Michael Moore has taken them on. Bravo!
