Beth Haller teaches Media Law, Magazine Publishing, Feature Writing and Honors Introduction to Mass Communication at Towson University in Maryland, where she has worked since 1996. She holds a Ph.D. from Temple University and conducts research on media images of disability issues. She recently published a book on the topic, Representing Disability in an Ableist World: Essays in Mass Media (Advocado Press, 2010). Haller also maintains a blog on disability issues in the news, Media dis&dat, http://media-dis-n-dat.blogspot.com/. She is a former print journalist in Texas, Illinois and Maryland.

Even tho this is CA based, I think it is important to have this in the national news. It could be happening in other states. My only confusion about the story is that by using days of the week, it is unclear on what date something happened.

It makes an interesting connection about how wars in developing countries have grave health considerations for people, especially children, in those countries.

Good detailed science info in a sports story that is in the Football section. Good that there is continuing coverage of the topic of dangerous brain trauma for athletes.
