This story is a bit one-sided there isn't anyone who opposes it quoted in the article. This piece is best described as awareness rather than journalism.

This is not good journalism because it is based on speculation rather than facts. The President's visit does not necessarily constitute the issues the article highlights. The article talks about racial tensions but does very little to source those tensions. Also no undocumented Brazilians were quoted in the article so it ends up being quit biased.

Great explanation of the issues, from multiple perspectives. I appreciated that there was a comparison to the use of cell phones and their penalties. I would have liked a better explanation of the procedures pertaining to passing the change to the law.
This is a one sided article that focuses mainly on the commentary of Common Cause. Justice Thomas should have more of a chance to respond. This is a better example of "Gotcha Journalism". The article achieves its purpose in detailing Justice Thomas' mistake and hammering home its impact as well as the implausibility of his mistake in interpretation.
I am not a Justice Thomas fan by any stretch of the imagination, but this is more of an attack on his wife rather than the Justice. There is plenty of legitimate grounds to question Justice Thomas' actions.
In order to qualify as good journalism, this article needs to include more information from Rawlings-Blake spokesperson, or better yet the mayor herself. The graphic is not featured prominently enough and should include populations of the districts.

This is a great learning experience for students and is an authentic application of the curriculum.
